Movies and TV shows that made you cry

#1

Post by ScottyMcGee » Thu Sep 18, 2014 12:14 pm

Come on, it's happened at least once. Maybe you weren't bawling out like a baby but got some mist in your eyes.

The ending to Forrest Gump always does it for me ("I miss you, Jenny")

For some odd reason, the ending to E.T. gets me too, even though I'll be perfectly fine throughout. Once he actually leaves I just lose it.

When I was a teenager Cinema Paradiso made me misty. It doesn't anymore and maybe I just grew out of it.

I haven't watched much TV to really have a moment where I got emotional over an episode.

Eternal Sunshine, A Knight's Tale, Moulin Rouge, Steel Magnolias, Space Cowboys, The Green Mile, My Dog Skip, Up (cried like 4 different times--goddamn, Pixar), Ghost...

Those are just off the top of my head. I'm a baby when I see movies.

Chaplin's 'The Kid', 'The Last Unicorn', and 'Royal Tenenbaums' all got me in the last year or so. (Oh, and 'Willow'. Man. That bit when Willow is weeping after the bad guys steal the baby from him during the battle at Tir Asleen...that biz takes on a whole new dimension once you become an uncle, bro.)

The beginning of Up and The Fault in Our Stars. I never cry but get teary-eyed when something sad happens.

How horrible of a person am I for laughing when you-know-what happened? I especially can't get enough of the memes that come out of it.

I sort of felt like that with this odd experience I had with the Hangover trilogy. I used to go to this movie theater where every Tuesday was free if you had an Optimum membership card. Eventually over the years this crippled their industry and they had to stop doing it.

The very first movie I saw on free movie Tuesday was The Hangover. The last movie I saw on free movie Tuesday was The Hangover Part III. Thus, I felt a special moment at the end of Part III where they have that quick flashback between when they first entered Vegas and when they last left (something like that), and I was like "Awww." Of course, it's not a trilogy to be shedding tears over and I didn't, but I felt very nostalgic.

I never got into Boy Meets World, but I've seen the series finale and could totally see how that could have been a tearjerker for me.

I'm finally mostly caught up on Modern Doctor Who. By that I mean I finished Matt Smith's term. I kind of got teary-eyed at his little speech during his regeneration, more so than David Tennant's.

David Tennant's was too over-the-top forced angsty but then again that's why we love him. I agree though, it didn't really get me in the gut like other things have.

I mean he essentially was about to rise to God-like status and then fell, so that's probably why. What DOES still get to me about Ten is his final visit to Rose. "You're gonna have a great year." Ugh. UGH. UGGGHHHHH fEELS

Him visiting Rose gave me all kinds of feels. I haven't yet seen Matt Smith's regeneration to compare the two.
