ITT: Stargate Universe.

This is the thread for discussion of the new television series Stargate Universe, in which viewers who are members of this forum can: complain about how unfair it is that the previous Stargate series got cancelled and the story for this new series went in a new direction, hate/white knight [strike]Wesley[/strike] Chloe, or whine about the communcation stone stories. I'll start!

I like it, what with the new direction it's going in and all, but I really wish Todd the Wraith (played by Christopher Heyerdahl, a really cool guy) from Stargate: Atlantis would cameo/star in this show. Just like, you know, out of the blue we see Todd and he's all "hey guys what's up?" because he's Todd. Todd the Wraith. He could be the much needed comic relief or something, and he could be Eli's new best friend and they could pull all sorts of asinine pranks on everyone else. That'd be much better than watching Lou Diamond Phillips and Ona Grauer claw each other for fifteen minutes each episode, or watching the veins on the bald guy's neck stick out.
I also wish they'd stop playing pop music. That's annoying. If anything, the show needs Viking metal.

Thoughts?

Even though it says it isn't me, it's really me.

I'M NOT SABRILOCKE I'M ONE OF SABRILOCKE'S FRIENDS PRETENDING TO BE SABRILCOKE

I THINK SGU IS THE BESTEST SERIES IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD AND DOCTOR NICHOLAS RUSH IS ONE SEXY MAN. I ALSO THINK TODD THE WRAITH SHOULD SHOW UP.

I like the show, but I do think Eli being friend-zoned makes for a boring story element.

Yeah, that kind of sucks. I'm almost hoping something forms between him and Lieutenant Vanessa James (...this is based solely on James' "god, poor kid" glances and Eli's "omg hawt girl" glances), or something. The romance between Chloe and Scott also felt kind of rushed, like the writers just wanted to throw more sex scenes in as early as possible to hook people (if they wanted to hook me with that, they could have kept the cute blonde scientist who went through the gate in Air Part III in and had her claw and grope somebody).
Of all the characters, I'm going to have to say I like Nicholas Rush the most. He isn't a wiseass like O'Neill, he isn't...chaotic neutral like Sheppard, he isn't a hooligan like Mitchell, he's a manipulative prick.
I also like Greer. Reminds me of an early Ronon, in a way.

Agreed. I like Young too. He was kinda tired of the whole SG military scene even before all this started, and now he's got to keep everyone alive while dealing with Spencer's crap, Telford's crap, Rush's crap, the IOA's crap, and civilians who don't quite trust him. I wonder how it's going to play out for him, because the ways he dealt with Rush and Telford are going to have repercussions, just as the way he tried to deal with Spencer did.

Yeah, something tells me that somebody's going to have a lot of explaining to do if/when they get back to Earth. :x

New episodes coming April 2nd! Woooooo. I heard early on that Rush was going to get deus ex machina'd out of his seemingly hopeless situation, but didn't really read further into it than that. I'm hoping humanoid aliens are involved.

Look no further.
On an unrelated note, I can't wait until Warehouse 13 comes back. I think I should start a thread about that. I'm going to start a thread about that.
