Have you played Gears 5?
What are your favourite unlockable skills?
Gears 5 is set on the world of Sera and takes place months after the events of Gears of War 4. The majority of its narrative focuses on Kait Diaz (Laura Bailey), originally a member of a human faction known as the Outsiders who resist the totalitarian rule of the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG), the dominant human nation state in Sera headquartered in the city of New Ephyra. Subsequent events in the narrative forces Kait, who had experienced recurring nightmarish visions after Gears of War 4, to discover the origins of the monstrous Locust Horde that threatened the human civilizations of Sera a generation before, as well as the truth behind her connection to Myrrah (Carolyn Seymour), the deceased Queen of the Locust.
Kait is accompanied by her friend Delmont "Del" Walker (Eugene Byrd) and a robot named Jack for the majority of her journey. Del's best friend James Dominic "JD" Fenix (Liam McIntyre) is the player character for the first chapter of Gears 5. Other important characters include JD's father Marcus Fenix (John DiMaggio) replaces DiMaggio if the Ba); Damon Baird (Fred Tatasciore), a former comrade of Marcus and the creator of Jack; Fahz Chutani (Rahul Kohli), a former friend of JD and Del; and COG First Minister Mina Jinn (Angel Desai). By the events of Gears 5, Kait, JD, Del, and Marcus are officially reinstated in the COG Army and reformed as the new Delta Squad.

I only ever played some of the first Gears of War, and it was painfully generic, the only glimmer of fun was co-op. Very playable, quite competent, but just completely uninteresting, especially the story and characters.
Boring giant space marine guys will never catch my attention as characters, that's part of why Mass Effect never appealed to me. I know they started using a female main character in Gears and that's even less interesting for a war game. There is one spin-off called Gears Tactics I might be interested in though, I really like turn-based tactics games.

Only Gears I ever played was over at a friend's place----------he wanted to get me into the first game so we could do online co-op together. Towards the end of the first level, I got some kind of orbital laser aiming device or whatever---------------I asked if friendly fire was on, and he said no. So I aimed it at him and pulled the trigger, and the orbital thingie fired on our location, killing us both. He was pissed. 'You idiot! What the hell did you do that for?!?' 'You said friendly fire wasn't on!'
He probably wouldn't have kicked me out if I hadn't been laughing so hard.
[EDIT: I don't care what anyone says------------"Fenix" is spelled stupidly. If you want to call your character "Marcus Phoenix", then do it right, dangit. Simon Phoenix might be the biggest jerk in the history of the future, but at least he has the courtesy to spell his name correctly.]

Fenix exudes "house cat" vibes. 100% agree.

^It's one letter away from 'Felix', which is the housecattiest housecat name to ever be cattily housed by a housecat. It's more obvious even than flippin 'Garfield'. Not only is there Felix the cat, but it's also a pun on the latinate root for 'cat' ("felis"). Which probably lends directly into the latin word "felix", meaning 'lucky'.
