Be Kind, Rewind

Not particularly spectacular, but not as bad as the reviews would lead one to believe. The remakes are the highlight of the film.

This morning, I watched Downfall (Der Untergang), a German film that documents the last few days of Hitler in his bunker in Berlin. Very moving movie. Makes Hitler seem less like a heartless monster and more like a hopeless nutjob.

Monsters, Inc. was on ABC. It had been a few years since I last saw it, and it's still pretty good.

I watched Scarface for the first time last night.

I was a little naive in the the fact that I started watching it at 10pm without realizing that the film was nearly 3 hours long.

I watched Spirited Away again. I still love that movie, and it seems Ovation is playing some more mildly interesting animated films this week. I may have to give 'em a watch.

2001: A Space Odyssey

This is truly one of those rare films that does exactly what the medium is supposed to do: stimulate the viewer through sight & sound. (no pun intended, though non-film geeks probably wouldn't see the pun anyways)

^ I guess. I have to say, I really didn't like that movie...at all.

Just Friends was on Comedy Central earlier. Kind of absurd, but in a good way.

I watched Seven Samurai again, and a movie called Tokyo Godfathers a couple of nights ago. Not to say I'm into Japanese Film as a whole, just that those happen to be the last two films I saw. Seven Samurai is, of course, amazing, and Tokyo Godfathers was pretty funny. The latter was also a rather well-paced little romp, so it was worth the two hours.
