123 Movies for 2023!

I saw 'Jack-O', the Hallowe'en movie.

...you know, sometimes I get why a movie has a cult following. I totally understand why people love 'Miami Connection', for instance------------it's pretty much 'Stupid Eight-Year-Old Boo Playing With His Action Figures: The Movie'. Comparatively, 'Jack-O' sucks, and its appeal eludes me.

I also saw a couple shorts. 'Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey' is a lesser Rankin-Bass flick, and...I mean, it isn't even the best Christmas animated short subject specifically about the donkey that carried Mary into Bethlehem (now there's a niche), but it's okay. I like that it was narrated and sung mostly by Roger Miller (like how 'Robin Hood' was!), and, like, the character designer was good old Paul Coker. I mostly know Paul Coker from Mad Magazine, so it's interesting to see his other projects. He had a long relationship with Rankin-Bass (in retrospect I'm kind of amazed I didn't realise he worked on the 'Frosty the Snowman' cartoon).

And then there was 'Judas and Jesus'. It's...really beautifully animated, but I can't say much else kind about it.

I never heard of it, but a cursory glance tells me all I need to know.

Yeah. I wish it had anything at all to recommend it aside from the really nice animation, but it's pretty dire.

124) Ramona & Beezus - B
125) Meg 2: The Trench - D+. Dumb plot points are fine if the movie justifies them, but this one doesn't even try.
126) Inglorious B******s - A-
127) Snakes on a Plane - B+

I rewatched 'The Lion in Winter', because it's a Christmas movie. It takes place at Christmas, and also all of the characters want to murder all of their relatives, and so it's like the most Christmassy movie ever.

That's a pretty generous rating for Snakes on a Plane I think, but its meme is legendary.
