We could also remember him from something like One Hour Photo, or Insomnia, where he played sociopaths, and it becomes quickly apparent he could pull the Joker off quite well. The ammount of interest he's shown in the part alone should warrant some credit. I mean let's be honest here - who actually thought Ledger could pull this off until that teaser came out with his voice on it?

I'll agree, Erdawn. That said, I would still rather they left the Joker be.

Jennifer Garner would be a neat Catwoman.

Heath was about the only reason I wanted to see the Dark Knight, and it was sold out three shows in a row for two days in a row up in my area. -___-

Damn, I wanna see this film so bad...

Rest assured that they won't have anyone replacing Ledger as Joker.

Dyl, Erdawn, yes, Williams is awesome, but I specifically mentioned Smoochy because his character in that was a homicidal clown; it was a direct stab at Val's comment.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

What about Patch Adams? Did he kill anyone in Patch Adams? I could've sworn he killed someone in Patch Adams.

^ Yes. He killed me. I had to resuscitate myself after that load of "let's fool the audience into thinking we've made a good movie by having a sad ending" crap.

I thought DK was good, but some of the hype is overrated.

My biggest complaints in the movie was the length. The second half and the first half just seemed like two different movies.

But Ledger was well worth the price. He carried the movie.

I'm still not a huge fan of Bale. He just seems so boring.-jay

they'll have to,
Spoiler.
the joker was still alive at the end of dark knight.
they'll have to get someone who can play the Joker well, they just need to find the right actor to pick up where ledger leaft off, though I doubt anyone will top ledger's performance as the joker, EVER. and you know, alot of people thought Nickleson was the only man to play joker until ledger topped him.

but they will and hopefully whoever they choose as the next joker will at least live up to the character. and I think robin williams might be a good choice because of his darker works as pointed out earlier in the thread.

but this is what I want to know, which villain will they do for the next film? personally I think the Riddler is a good choice if they portray him in the way they did on Batman TAS.
beware the power of Bahamut\'s eldest son.

I laughed when I read this, because you spoilered that, and yet the entire context of the post was about recasting Joker.

Spoiler.
I thought the movie was good. Contained a lot of action and such. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the introduction of two-face. I definitely thought when the Joker said Two-Face was his 'ace in the hole' that Two-Face was basically confirmed as the villain in the next movie.

However, this was not the case. I feel his death was pre-mature. I feel there wasn't enough time to develop his darker side. And with the Joker's 'ace in the hole' down, it seemed to close the movie up more rather than leave a 'gap' for a sequel.

And Joker was amazingly creepy. Pencil joke ftw. The fact they put so much emphasis on his badassery was quite amazing; it was so freaking tough for Batman to take him down. My favorite part of the movie was when the Joker was hunting Harvey down, annihilating the Batmobile, the helicopter, and ultimately the Joker trying to get Batman to kill him. Though it seemed the head Cop guy kind of popped out of nowhere when he arrested the Joker.

And I did not expect a return of the Joker regardless of Ledger's death. I figured they would show him in the asylum if anything.

Just because
Spoiler.
he's not dead
doesn't mean they have to have him in the next movie. Out of respect for Ledger, they probably won't.

I think it would be a huge mistake to recast the Joker.

Someone being alive at the end of a movie doesn't mean they need to physically reappear in a sequal movie. They can write their disappearance into the story via other characters.
