^That one at least could be funny.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

If that's Steve Carrell, then you can almost guarantee it's going to be funny.

I usually always view the Scary Movie guys as crappy.

They just go hand-in-Hand.

Like Uwe Bowe and Failure.

Bring up Get Smart is all and good, but it doesn't really have anything to do with the spoof movie discussion.

In a follow-up to my link, here are some stats on Superhero!:
  • It was originally going to be David Zucker's follow-up to Scary Movie 4, but he quietly bowed out to allow his screenwriter Craig Mazin to direct (Zucker is still producing)
  • According to the AICN review, the plot will be formed around Spider-Man, but will include other parodies.
  • The same review says the Superhero! is spoof in a similar way that Hot Fuzz in the fact that "there’s a structure to the piece as well as genuine affection towards the genre being lampooned."

I wouldn't go calling them "the Scary Movie" guys, since they are just leaching the success of that movie.

The first two Scary Movies were written mostly by the Wayans Brothers and the second two were written by Craig Mazin (who's writing and directing Superheroes)

I never really liked the Scarey Movie group. They just seemed to be aimed at Fraternity style Teenagers, with Sex Jokes, and every movie strung together by laughable characters, with a weak attempt to put emotion in them.

The other Movies are technically an attempt to broaden it all.

I'm not so sure it is succeding.

I saw the movie last week at the Drive-In because it was the second feature after AvPR. If not for the 12 pack of Hinieken I had I would not have lasted through the movie.

In my opinion Mel Brooks was the King at making spoof flicks. Those of you who beg to argue I have only two words for you

SPACE BALLS !!! :headbang: or Rbin Hood Men in Tights :headbang:

How about a Magic Trick?? I'm going to make this pencil dissapear !

Also, Young Frankenstein.

And Get Smart should count. Seeing that the original Get Smart was a spoof of the old spy shows.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

^And the little fact that Mel Brooks made it.

I just noticed that, for being so well-loved, Mel Brooks doesn't have that huge a filmography.

He has only directed about 11 films in his nearly 40 year career with the last one (Dracula: Dead and Loving It) coming out 13 years ago.

Though, I would admit that, during his hey day, he came out with a new film on average every 2 1/2 years.

But he produced The Producers three years ago.

And he made Young Frankenstein: The Musical last year, so it's not like he's gone out of the picture completely.

Oh, and Spaceballs: The Animated Series. (though that still needs to air)
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

He only directed 11 films, yes, but he also wrote a bunch more, created & produced a TV series that ran for 5 years & has had at least 3 revivals, is currently making another TV series, and wrote/composed/produced 2 Broadway musicals, one of which he produced the film version of. The man has kept himself busy.

Speaking of spoof movies, I honestly believe that being wedged between Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans, Walk Hard was sorely underappreciated. That was a darn good film and a hilarious biopic parody.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^ I would say that after one-two punch of Knocked Up and Superbad, Walk Hard was a little underwhelming for me in terms of Judd Apatow produced comedies.

Saw it, watched half an hour, left.

Not surprising.

And now the kids at my school are getting mad at me for not loving comic genius.

^Are you talking about Walk Hard or Meet the Spartans? Answer carefully; my respect for you hangs in the balance.

I can't see shelling out for a movie ticket and then walking out halfway through. Maybe I just have a higher pain threshold...

^^ Spartans, haven't seen Walk Hard yet.

^ My brother got some free tickets from a movie he got at Best Buy. He doesn't really have time for movies, so he gave 'em to me.

^I bet he was just using that as an excuse. "No, I totally don't have time to see that movie. Booked solid, really. Yupper. Hey, why don't YOU go? I'm sure it'll be fun." And, while your attention was focused on the tickets he was holding out, you failed to notice the demonic gleam in his eyes.

So, did you thank your brother for the tickets? Because that'd make the whole thing even funnier. Or maybe more tragic.

I knew he didn't want to go.

I just wanted to witness it to see how bad it really was.

Plus, he goes to the same boarding school as ML, manages basketball, does circuit training, bowls, is in a play, and sings in a concert choir, so he really doesn't have time.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

Here is the trailer for the, now renamed, Superhero Movie.

I laughed during the trailer -- I think that's a good sign.

^There's totally a Get Smart joke in that trailer.
