Why can't I save my sprites as GIFs?

I want to make sprites, but I when I choose "Save As", the only files to save it as are Bitmaps! Please tell me how I can get Graphic Interchange Format! Thanks.

Some versions of Paint are like that. But, I know a way to still make it a gif.

Let's say the filename is George. After typing it in the box, add .gif to it. It should look like George.gif and that's a gif file.

Hope it works.

If you're using MSpaint, when you're saving a file as, open the menu at the bottom of the save screen and select GIF. (To make sprites look better, save them as a GIF FIRST, That'll avoid the annoying static look)

You could also rename the pic. with a .gif at the end.
Now why would you look down here, anyway?

Zak, that's the problem. GIF doesn't show up in that menu. Only Bitmap. How do I get GIF in that menu?

I meant, if he was trying to upload them onto the internet, then perhaps he could rename them as GIFs after uploading? (unless his server doesn't allow uploading of BMP) But yeah, that was kinda what you said, wasn't it? Sorry. Anyway, a step-by-step procedure, would be to go to Save As, write what you want to save it as (one word), write .gif after the save as, then click save as. To open it up again, go to all files and select the saved gif file. Hopefully, your computer accepts gif. If it doesn't, you may want to consider another form.
Now why would you look down here, anyway?

Just find a another program that lets you save pictures as GIFs like IrfanView. Save the picture as a BMP in Paint, then upload into the other program and you should be able to save it as a GIF(depending on what program you got). If this doesnt work then you should just throw your computer out the window..

I tried the "adding .gif at the end of the title" and it works.
