^ Dude, you just became one of my least favorite people.
I finally got around to buying Trigun, so I'll actually be able to post something in this topic.

No. Several characters - notably Vash himself - sounded better in the dub. The dubbing dind't change enough in the show to make a quality difference; you're merely expressing hatred for it just to seem otaku.Originally posted by ssorD:
The real Trigun=awesome
The dub=****.

I was using it in a negative context.Originally posted by ssorD:
Bull. I hate it when people call themselves otaku.
The fact that you would even place us in that category based on the fact that we think Trigun in particular has a high-quality dub shows that you border on fanaticism. At least I don't use the immature, over-used term 'dubbies' to refer to you guys.
You're entitled to an unpopular opinion, just not to screaming and throwing bashing posts around about it.I can't be entitled to an un-popular opinion?
You're still required to be civil. So calm down.Just because I say hate the dub means I'm trying to look like an 'otaku'? Um, no-I don't give a ****ing **** what you people think.
That's true. Animation is a vry different thing, though certain visual editing is typically expected for the "cut" version of anime usually shown on TV. If it was shown uncut with those edits, you might have a point. As it stands, you don't, because animation is a much bigger change than the dialogue. What if they changed the animation for the U.S. release? People who complained about that wouldn't be labeled as *****y purists.
Ironically, you're right - he is played by the second English Red Ranger, if I remember correctly. However, the voice actor fits him incredibly well - it gives a certain lightness to his character in light situations that the Japanese voice didn't have, and a certain despair to despairing situatios. Overall he was just more emotional, believable, and likable in English. And dub Vash sounds like a friggin' power ranger.
It is actually kind of funny, when you oppose all dubs fanatically just based on principle and then attack us voraciously when we say you're acting out of line - which you still are.-_- it is? What's funny? I'm not laughing. Just because dubs brought anime to America doesn't mean it's too sacred to form an opinion on.(Or as you so politely put it, "***** about")
You still have to tell people what it is in English. You're placing way too much emphasis on Japanese voice acting, which is sometimes inferior to the voices given to it by Americans - as is the case with Trigun.Anyway, whatever-I stand by my opinion. You can't put a mustache on Mona Lisa.
Don't flatter yourself. You don't stand for subbing against a horde of dubbies, believe me. It's to be taken on a case-to-case basis. Vision of Escaflowne was infinitely superior in Japanese; Trigun is likewise superior in English. It's not complicated, and the fact that you think of us as "dubbies" jsut because we say Trigun had a high-quality dub just shows your own ignorance.Let's drop this right now, as not to turn it into a me vs. everyone- I mean, sub vs. dub topic.
Please behave politely.

You realize, of course, the mod of this forum likes editing posts more than he likes locking topics. My entire post still stands, and if you don't want to respond to it then you don't even belong in a debate.
And a heads-up: debates are acceptable at VGF.

If you seriously think you can order around other debaters....yeah, you're pretty newbish for this place.
Ah! Here's something else to talk about. Consider, if you will, the psychology of Legato Bluesummers: an uninteresting brick, or a deeply affected psychopath?

OK I think I've got something to say now.
First of which is... saying Trigun has a good dub is like saying Michael Jackson has a good album out. No, just no.
Second, there is a reason I hate Trigun. It's because I saw the dub first. If I'd saw the sub first it may be a different story.
Third the voices don't fit the characters. Like Legato. He's always talking like he's better than everyone else in the dub (that's what his voice sounds like) Which is completely contradictory to his personality. Although little Knives with Tai's (Digimon) dubbed voice actor is pretty damn hillarious.
Edit: In case the topic changes this is my opinion as it stands I don't care if I'm beating a dead horse. I had to say something.
