Super SMASH Bros. 3D?
What you think about a 3D game of Super SMASH Bros.
If you can read this, don\'t.
Seems like you just did.

Hmmm... if they did a mode or two in 3d, sure. I'd still want the option to play classic SSB though.
I'd buy it unless for some reason they turned it into a First person game.

Total slaughter, total slaughter. I won\'t leave a single man alive. La de da de die, genocide. La de da de dud, an ocean of blood. Let\'s begin the killing time.

I think the 2.5-D style has always been part of the charm....as well as part of the reason the gameplay dynamics even work.
Fully 3D SSB would need a completely different control scheme. I can see it possibly working as an extra mode on the next system's edition, but not as the primary format.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

It would be to hard to actually fight in. You wouldn't be able to see that well, especially when there are 4 people playing and the screen gets stretched out. The regular 2.5-D way of fighting I think is best for the game. The 3-D kind only works for games like Soul Calibur 2 where only 2 people play at a time and are always facing each other.

Here's my control idea:
Stick = Move
A = Jump
B = Standard attack
X = Special Attack
Y = Pause/Camera Shift
Z = Pick up/Use/Throw Item
R = Shield/Grab/Discard Item
L = Dodge
Start/Pause = Pause/Check Stats
Control Pad = Change Stocked Item
C Stick = Universal Attack
If there's any Qs about gameplay, such as level brand, make a contact, and
Auron, you said
"It would be too hard to operate the jumps and stuff. It sounds stupid."
It is false, as the controls say.

What about moves that require movement of the control stick additionally? Like Samus's Charge shot and missiles? Normally the special attack is her charge shot, but if you tilt the control stick in a direction then fire, she uses homing missiles. Smash the stick and she fires super missiles. This can't work on a 3-d plain, because moving the stick would probably register for the up + B attack instead.

Hmm...
Here's a method.
Clockwise rotation + B = Down Attatck
Counterclock + B = Up Attatck
2= First person? Maybe for certain power-ups, but sounds sucky.

^^^Marth was just reiterating his dislike of first-person camera angles, in case any of us had forgotten or stopped caring.
Dude, forget that rotation stuff, just change the C-stick to be for attack direction. That way it would work for smash attacks too, which you seem to have forgotten about. You also didn't give any way to do Side Bs.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
