The Last Remnant First Look - PlayStation 3 News at GameSpot

This is one of Square-Enix's new announcements...something using the Unreal 3 Engine, and, what's this?

It's NOT another Final Fantasy 7/12/13 spinoff?!

Well, it's a little too late for April Fools...This may actually be genuine people!

I have also read the article about this from Game Informer. It sounds like it's an interesting turn from Square-Enix's usual RPG formula, instead making it more of an Action/RPG hybrid.

However, most of the screenshots run in GameInformer so far have made this seem more like a cross between Final Fantasy XII and Dynasty Warriors. One of the screenshots on GameSpot kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy X, but we know this battle system won't quite be the anime-paced trudge X's was. It would spell Disaster for a game that is supposed to include battlefields full of enemies, much like Dynasty Warriors.

The screenshots I've seen so far may suggest that Square-Enix realized that the people they based their models of lack a certain amount of testosterone. They have cleaned up their models from Final Fantasy XII and, hopefully, finally know what a boy looks like now. It still is a work in progress, so do not get your hopes up. There still is the chance that their idea of a boy comes from Crossdressing animes. (In which the boy is always more feminine than the girl...Funny when Cloud did it about 10 years ago, but not when Tidus and Vaan set off Gay-dars)

It will be interesting to see how this works out. I'm not exactly excited for this game, but it might be an interesting turn from Square-Enix's Final Fantasy addiction for cash.

It seems very intrigueing... However, I am still hoping the more Enix related properties (Star Ocean, Radiata Stories, etc.) have some more games soon.

This game seems like it may disappoint considering it combines fantasy with Dynasty Warriors. We all know how this will work: Koei (in spirit, not actually in colaboration), a company that money-whores using Samurai/Dynasty warriors games, meets Squeenix, a company that money whores with FF games. If these two formulas mix, combining to games that are now overdone, we might end up with trash.

Or it may be gold.

As I said, I don't have my hopes up, but maybe it will redeem the damned Squeenix.

I'm a certain ways into FF12.

There is nothing to redeem. I can't even rub my nose at FF13 at this point. And I really want to.
Help me out with the best fanfiction ever, Ganondorf Beats Up EVERYONE! You decide who gets beaten!

For the battle-minded and mathematically inclined, there's the Hyrulian War, a revived time-honored tradition!

Yep...they still need to redeem themselves for coming up with that god-awful Sphere Grid...And Tidus, but nothing can redeem that.
