It depends on your coping with Sonic's vast variety of gameplay. Some just wants one thing while others want many. I like the oldie games alot, but I'll stick with the current gen and say I like the new games the best.

The old games are nostalgic, but the newer ones have more playable characters, more storyline, and more to do.

Don't get me wrong, nothing is better than Sonic The Hedgehog 2(Genesis), but I like the New-Gen games a bit more as a whole.
What's the matter, scared?

Quite so. I agree with you guys, The new games have more storyline and better characters. And better controls (Sometimes). BUT The new games graphics could make you sick sometimes.or just plain frustrated.:swear:

Agreed. The only thing that makes me want to lean to the 'new' side is the PS3 sonic. The graphics are shockingly good. But currently Masa Hiro is spot on. Well done

(ive always wanted to do that clap one)

i made a topic similar to this but anyways some franchises translate well to 3D for example mario, zelda, rayman well others try to but just doesnt capture the magic of their 2D counterparts sonic, bubsy, worms

Retro, no doubt. I prefer 2D over 3D.

I love the old Genesis and such Sonic games, but I kinda like the newer ones better. I really enjoyed SA2B and Sonic Heroes, and SA was pretty fun.
I could never beat the 2D ones :swear:

2D since their is allot of exploration and speed with cool boss fights that probably would not translate well in D. thats not to say it's not possible to, just have not seen it happen yet.
