Something more like a Red Mage or D&D Bard, sans music.
That's the Page. Red Mages can only cast low level spells. Same with Page (Although as it progresses, I believe the evolutions can cast medium level spells).

Naw, pages are more like Paladins. Halfway between a fighter and a white mage. There's no real equivalent of a red mage or bard in this.

Templar gets level 1. I'm not sure how fair that is. Maybe give knight level 1 and templar level 2?

I agree this is the paladin class, but it seems pretty weak without some extra magic.

Yeah, that sounds fair. So wait, do pages and squires get anything?

Also make sure the thief line is balanced. I don't want to be screwed over again just because I'm a thief.

Pages and squires get level 0 spells, although looking at it now, their lack of strength is made up for by their increased defense. So with that in mind maybe they're not too weak.

The thief line will probably depend heavily on stealing for stat boosts.

See the store topic. Nothing you can do yet, but you will be able to eventually (everyone will be, but thieves have better chance for success).
