Is it me or is the Devil May Cry franchise anti-Christian?
The DMC protagonist Nero is named after the real historical figure Nero who was notorious for persecuting and committing a massacre against Christians in the ancient Roman empire.

Re: Is Devil May Cry anti-Christian?
I can only judge based on the first couple games, but I'd say no, at least not directly. The Japanese have completely different views and often a limited understanding of Christianity. They seem to lift themes from and make references to Christian theology without necessarily making any kind of deep social commentary or anything.
I'd say if anything is anti-Christian it's probably unintentional at least.

Re: Is Devil May Cry anti-Christian?
Thanks for letting me know. I asked this because I noticed that many Japanese video games such as Final Fantasy 6 are anti-Christian such as depicting the Christian deity as an evil villain.I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 10:39 amI can only judge based on the first couple games, but I'd say no, at least not directly.
