Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
Ooh. I might buy one. 'Pokemon Snap' is rad. Big issue is it ever coming to exist-----------at the moment, some phony-baloney competitor to Lego has the Pokemon license, but that doesn't mean it always will. There was an era when someone other than Lego was making Pirates of the Caribbean not-Lego sets, too, and look how that wound up.
...as long as we're wishing on a star, I'd buy the entire Lego Blast Corps line. Haha. Presumably it'd be really easy to smash your other Lego sets with Lego Ramdozer, Lego Thunderfist, Lego Skyfall...pretty much everything other than Lego Backlash. Even in Lego form, Backlash would have to be hard to control----------anything less would be uncivilised.

So along with the DeLorean, I also picked up the Sonic the Hedgehog set. I was actually kind of surprised to see how many pieces it was given the price point (usually a Lego set is roughly ten bux per hundred pieces, and this one is seventy bux for 1125)--------turns out about half the set is fiddly little 1×1 plates in brown and tan, so you can duplicate the checkerboard pattern of the ground.

Finally Sonic can go 88mph and go back to his past to prevent so many s****y games from sullying his good name. The blood of Silver the Hedgehog will cry out unto the sky.

Minifigure Sonic is too small to drive the huge Lego DeLorean or ECTO-1, but he could totally drive the Adam West Batmobile.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
The DeLorean's done. They included all the pieces to make the versions from the dumb sequels, and that was nice of them, but they really needn't have bothered.
It's like if they released a Lego set of the refit Enterprise from the Star Trek movies, but also included the pieces to make the Enterprise look all shot up as it was in 'Wrath of Khan', or depict it exploding as it did in 'Search for Spock', or look like it was in a sh*tty movie like it did in 'Final Frontier'. (Ahahaa. Shots fired.)

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
So Lego just announced a new giant set----------this time it's Luke's landspeeder from ANH.
It's cool, but I'm not getting it. If I were going to get one of Luke's vehicles, it'd be from when he was doing something sick. Like, Luke in his X-Wing blowing up the Death Star, or in his snowspeeder helping kill AT-ATs, those are cool moments--------------nobody wants to be Luke driving back to the homestead to find Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru murdered.
...hmmm. You know, with all my Lego stuff, I have never gotten a Lego SW set. I've played the video games a bunch, but own not one of the sets. You'd think I'd have at least gotten a Y-Wing or something as an impulse buy.

You don't have Lego Jar Jar Binks? You've got nothing then.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
I would, if they'd considered including him in one of the pirate ships. Not my fault Lego is so stingy. Keeping all the Jar Jars for themselves, the greedy skunks.

You can't blame them, after the economy crashes and the dollar loses all value, we'll be using Jar Jar Legos as currency.

You know, I thought of another dream Lego set I'd totally get if it existed. Two slightly smaller vehicles instead of one huge one------------three minifigures. I think @CaptHayfever knows precisely what I'm talking about.

...you know, I unironically love that movie.
It's so dang watchable.
If Lego was willing to make 'Lone Ranger' sets, they should be willing to make something from 'Space Mutiny'. People actually like 'Space Mutiny'.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
...I ordered a Y-Wing. I have a soft spot for them. Good old Gold Squadron. Good old 'Stay on target!' and 'Loosen up!'. Y-Wings are awesome. Workhorses of the Rebellion. Not as snazzy as some of the later fighters, but they're still sick as heck. (After my older brother died, my cousins got all his old SW toys, aside from his Y-Wing. Got a lot of affection for it. Brother's Y-Wing has been hanging up over my computer desk for over a decade, locked in an eternal mexican standoff with a Romulan Warbird and Mothra.)
I also ordered the huge giraffe tallneck robit from 'Horizon Zero Dawn' because it's super rad. I've never played the game, but it's a cool-looking build.
...I'm not proud.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
...I didn't see 'Rise of Skywalker'. This Y-Wing is branded 'Rise of Skywalker', per Amazon, the place I bought it. Was the Rebellion/Resistance still using Y-Wings like forty years after the Battle of Yavin? Because that's horrifying. The Rebels were phasing them out as of ANH in favour of X-Wings. They were phasing those both out as of RotJ in favour of A-Wings and B-Wings! Why the hell is the Rebellion still fielding Y-Wings as of RoS (btw-------nice naming, Disney. I bet nobody ever confuses crappy RoS with equally crappy RotS whilst abbreviating)? This is like if the US military still maintained an active wing of Thunderbolts, or the USS Constitution were still in service. (...)
...wait a minute. Wait just one minute. This is Holdo's fault, isn't it? Damn her and her stupid purple hair! That hidebound fool!

^I looked it up: Wookiepedia says there were only a couple Y-Wings still in use by the time of the sequel trilogy.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
...I don't want to hear any more of the fandom making flimsy paper-thin rationalisations for dumb things in Star Wars. It's getting old. Twenty-five years old.
I'm getting old, come to that. I should be out chopping wood or...building a zeppelin to fight the commies. Making bird-feeders, befriending crows. Joining a devil-worshipping cult or something. Something fun, just for once. Not talking about Star Wars.
...I suppose I should just be glad they put Y-Wings in stupid RoS (otherwise there wouldn't be a relatively new Lego Y-Wing set----------a slightly older Lego Y-Wing would have cost a mint). Should just take my wormwood and go to bed, I'll feel better in the morning.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
New Star Wars content is still being made set in the more appropriate time for Y-Wings, though. In a world more to your liking, you might have had no ST Y-Wings and still gotten an affordable Y-Wing Lego set.

Re: Why Lego won’t ever make military-related toys
Well, but it's frustrating! I like Poe! Poe's the pilot they included in this Y-Wing. I don't have a Luke minifig (the dream!), or a Jar Jar minifig (the terror that murders sleep!), but I like Poe, and Finn and Rey!
I was hyped after TFA! I had such hopes! High hopes! High apple pie in the sky hopes!
