Oh, pshaw. Who's to say it's an alcoholic beverage if it isn't explicitly referred to as such. For all the horrible smelly kids know, Cap'n Boo (from Timbuktu) is just having a silly beverage served in a coconut with a paper umbrella in. With the hula girl wearing just a grass skirt and a couple of leis covering her bazooms. G-rated as hell, man! They've never shied away from alcohol use.
Anyway, you know what annoys me?
...the need to make the characters "sexy" and sacrificing consistency. It's like how in almost all those animes with beastmen, the men have animal heads, claws, paws, tails, and don't wear shoes. Yet the women are just... humans with animal ears and animal tails. Sometimes with body paint.
Or those monster MMORPG races, as described in this image here:

Are you suggesting the orc isn't sexy?

If your female orcs aren't as big or bigger than the male orcs, you're a cowardly humie git.

...I don't think it's necessarily off-base that the lady orcs and trolls and demons and jaegers are more rounded-down and human-looking. Sexual dimorphism is a thing. If we were talking birds, the males being large, brightly-coloured and kind of weird-looking compared to the females would be a foregone conclusion.

The less beastly female forms doesn't bother me much, but one thing that mildly irks me sometimes is female bikini armor. I've kinda flip flopped on this a bit, I know it's fantasy, but it's just distracting and too illogical. Sometimes it's fine, if it's doing it for stylization, but if the fantasy wants me to completely take it seriously it can somewhat hinder that. It's not "PrObLeMaTiC" but it is kinda cheesy.

I choose to believe that it aids in dexterity checks rather than just straight defense checks, but also it's annoying and overdone

I guess that actually makes some sense. Female warriors may battle more indirectly with agility and speed rather than strength and defense. Still, there shouldn't be much straight-up bare skin lol.

And just look at the sexual dimorphism in hula people. We see it in 'Moana'. Maui is about eight foot across, and he has a weird 'The Goon' face. Compare and contrast to Moana herself----------she looks almost human.

Ironically strength wasn't all you needed in a fight - using a sword most of hte time you need agility and speed rather than brute force because brute force tires you out fast.I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 3:07 pmI guess that actually makes some sense. If you're say, using a shield, you're generally trying NOT to be moved, especially if you're say, forming one of those phalanxes.

sexual dimorphism in a fantasy race isn't bad or unrealistic, but the way it tends to be designed in games like wow comes off as less of a world-building decision and more "players like to look at boobies". i think then, in the interest of fairness, any good high-concept fantasy should also have a race of beastly women and speedo-clad twunks.

Oh, like so what if a player wants to see boobs. They're playing the game, aren't they? Should the developers not want to cater the game to their audience?
I like to think I'd be playing 'Shantae' one way or another, but it certainly doesn't hurt that the main character is a lovable little sex kitten. Should I pretend otherwise? Why lie? I might have shown up here for the gazongas, but I stayed for the charming characters and hilarious cutscenes and wonderful artwork and terrific gameplay, and the gazongas!

oh im not saying that game designers are never allowed to go for sex appeal or that it's bad, i just think it's distracting in that particular instance. it just stands out how much the female designs are designed to be humanoid and attractive where the male designs are more cartoony and beastly. it doesn't bother everyone and that's fine, i just personally would prefer something more consistent one way or the other.

I'd have lived just a bit better not knowing the word "twunks". I choose to re-interpret that as a lispy attempt at pronouncing Trunks' name. I'm going to watch Dragon Ball Z now, g'day.

So, you know what I really like? In all of Star Wars? Like, maybe even more than Luke and Han and the Ewoks and the....like, the chicken walkers? Like, I like the rancor keeper. In 'Jedi', right. He has that moment of pure humanity, where he sobs openly after Luke kills the rancor. It's a beautiful and sad thing, man. His homey tries to console him, but he's just so heartbroken. I feel bad for him.

Re: OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUD: where we complain about popular things in media we don't like to feel better about ourselves
So I've watched 'Over the Garden Wall' a hundred times, and the one thing that gets me every time is when, in the last episode, Greg says, 'I'm a stealer'. It's just such a little kid thing to say. 'Stealer', not 'thief' or 'robber' or some such. It's authentic. Plus Greg was such a positive upward-thinking little guy all through the series------------for the Beast to have got him so down he'd come close to turning into an edelwood...
...he must have hectored him relentlessly.
...I like kids. I don't even wanna think about baddies tormenting them. They're so vulnerable. I wanna hug Greg, man.
