Re: MCU Megathread
There were people at the end of the movie in our theater all mad like, "Man, F*** THANOS", throwing popcorn, it was kinda funny.

Re: MCU Megathread
Assorted news....
1) New trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp:
Fun fact: Cassie Lang will also appear in Avengers 4, but she has been recast with a slightly older actress for that film.
2) Agents of SHIELD has 2 episodes left this season. (Maybe ever; we're still on the bubble there.) After being set up back in episode 3, GRAVITON has finally emerged. (Also, these episodes are concurrent with the events of Infinity War; the fallout of which probably won't affect the show until the very end of the season finale.)
3) Marvel has just registered fresh trademarks for Squirrel Girl & New Warriors, which could be a sign that some kind of New Warriors announcement is coming soon.
4) Marvel Studios is not doing a presentation at SDCC this year, and Feige & the Russos are saying no new info on anything from the film studio until next May. (That has to be an exaggeration, though; they'll have to drop Captain Marvel & Avengers 4 trailers--& the title of the latter--at *some* point before those films open.)
5) New trailer for season 2 of Luke Cage went up pretty much right after I posted this update:
It's been 2 full weekends. You can discuss Infinity War, but PLEASE use spoiler tags.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: MCU Megathread
....Holy crap, Agents of SHIELD just got renewed. Season 6 will have a reduced episode order (13, down from 22), & if they know what's good for them, they'll hold it off until 2019. [EDIT: ABC has officially announced that season 6 will air in summer 2019.] The season finale of AoS airs this Friday.
That reduced episode count also fits well with rumors of New Warriors going to ABC this fall--it could use SHIELD's timeslot (since it's only planned to have a 10-episode first season).
Also, Kevin Feige says he has plans for introducing Kamala "Ms. Marvel" Khan in a movie, pending the success of Carol "Captain Marvel" Danvers next year.

Re: MCU Megathread
The SHIELD feels are reals. We'll see most of the team next summer.
Marvel Studios just hired a screenwriter for an Eternals movie. Huh.
Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal has just been cast as Mysterio for next year's Homecoming sequel.
Cloak & Dagger premieres June 7th (less than 3 weeks away)!
Luke Cage season 2 premieres June 22nd!
Ant-Man & the Wasp opens July 6th!
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: MCU Megathread
Roseanne was just cancelled, very suddenly, after stuff happened. What does this have to do with the MCU, you ask?
Well, ABC now suddenly needs to fill an unexpected vacancy in their prime-time lineup. Specifically, they need to fill the same Tuesday night time slot that Agents of SHIELD held for its first 3 seasons. And there's a Disney-owned show with 10 episodes already written & a pilot already filmed that's been looking for a venue.
...That's right; what I* am proposing is that NEW WARRIORS be picked up by ABC to fill that time slot!
*By "I", I mean "the cast of New Warriors, following on the heels of a Forbes article saying the same thing.
BTW, Cloak & Dagger premieres next week on Freeform. Early reviews have been good.

Re: MCU Megathread
Last Thursday, Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, did a Reddit AMA to promote Cloak & Dagger, which yielded a lot of evasive "wait & see" type responses, but we did get a few straight answers out of him:
--They're still trying to get New Warriors picked up.
--All of the TV shows except SHIELD are still set before Infinity War, & will remain such until next year.
--Danny Rand is gonna have a proper vigilante suit in season 2 of Iron Fist.
--Agent Carter could come back if another Disney-owned outlet was interested; Hayley Atwell is officially up for it.
--Inhumans is dead, but Loeb would entertain the thought of bringing those characters back on a different show (probably SHIELD).
--Marvel would be interested in releasing the pilots of Most Wanted & Damage Control, but they would need permission from ABC.
--John Ridley's long-in-development-hell ABC/Marvel project is still allegedly gonna happen.
--There are no plans for a 2nd season of The Defenders, but all of the other Marvel/Netflix shows are open to renewal for as long as Netflix wants them.
Kevin Feige, on the other hand, is playing hardball with us.
FYI, the first 2 episodes of Cloak & Dagger were quite good, & with season 2 of Luke Cage fast approaching, here's a fun clip of Misty & Colleen:
After that, we've got Ant-Man & the Wasp in early July, and then Daredevil season 3 & Runaways season 2 later this year with TBA release dates.

Word on the street is that the official title of Avengers 4 will be revealed at the end of Ant-Man & the Wasp, which opens in 2 weeks.....in America. The rest of y'all gotta wait until the World Cup is over.
Also, Luke Cage season 2 drops TOMORROW.

Re: MCU Megathread
Tom Holland just leaked the title of the next Spidey film -- Spider-Man: Far From Home
6 episodes of Cloak & Dagger left; it's really cool so far. Luke Cage S2 is an improvement on the 1st, also. Good month.
Timeline is updated. Cloak & Dagger is set before Infinity War, but we're not yet sure HOW MUCH before.

Re: MCU Megathread
Feige confirmed that Holland's Spidey title leak was both authorized & accurate, & Far From Home begins filming in 2 weeks.
He also just said that we shouldn't see a Captain Marvel trailer for another few months, as the movie still has 2 weeks of filming left.
He ALSO just said that Guardians vol. 3 begins filming early next year.
He ALSO also just said that we shouldn't expect the Avengers 4 title to be revealed until the end of the year, but again, that's just silly.
Further news: Kevin Smith is in talks with Disney to direct a movie. The most likely choices at the moment are (a) a Star Wars film [big surprise there], (b) an MCU installment [likewise], or (c) .....the Bedknobs & Broomsticks remake.
My guesses: If it's Star Wars, he'll direct the Obi-Wan solo film (low-budget concept, connects to original trilogy). If it's Marvel, he'll direct Ms. Marvel (it's a New Jersey thing).

Re: MCU Megathread
Rumor mill says Marvel is now shopping around for a Black Widow director.
The cinematographer on Avengers 4 apparently leaked "Endgame" as the title on his internet resume, but if that IS the title, it makes liars out of the Russos, who had explicitly said that's not it a month ago.
We're halfway through Cloak & Dagger, & things are picking up. Also, we finally have some timeline details--it has to take place prior to or concurrently with season 2 of Luke Cage (a character on C&D was referenced as having moved from Harlem recently), & it's springtime (high school basketball finals).
Ant-Man & the Wasp opens in just a few days! (Unless you're in the UK/Poland/Italy/Portugal/Japan, where Disney doesn't wanna compete with the World Cup; you guys gotta wait til August.)
After that, we have NO confirmed release dates until Captain Marvel in March. That said, we should expect at least 1 more Netflix binge this year (could be either Daredevil S3 or Iron Fist S2), as well as Runaways S2 (which is currently filming). And we're keeping our fingers crossed for New Warriors.

Re: MCU Megathread
Hmmmmm! Been busy in this thread, haven't you, Al?
Have you heard any new news about the 'Jubilee, Dazzler and Kamala Khan' movie? I'd get hyped over that, homey.
And how about the 'Dr. Strange/Girl Genius' crossover? I remember hearing about that during an intense absinthe vision couple years back. Why haven't they made any headway, there? Why are there no Funko Pops of 'Girl Genius' characters? When can we expect a Sleipnir O'Hara action figure? Maybe a three-pack of Von Pinn and Bangladesh Dupree locked in furious combat over Countess Zulenna's fresh corpse? I'd buy at least one of those.

We're apparently gonna get Kamala Khan in a few years.
Jubilee & Dazzler will have to wait for the Fox buyout to go through....& for Kevin Feige to lose his dang mind, because who cares about Jubilee & Dazzler?
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: MCU Megathread
^I just find it hilarious that after the promo materials made such a big fuss about Jubilee being in X-Men: Apocalypse, when the movie came out she barely appeared, had like 1 line (if even that), was never named onscreen, never used her powers, & contributed nothing to the plot.
Speaking of underdeveloped characters, the Black Widow solo movie now has a director attached, & Marvel Studios confirms that it will be set sometime before Avengers 1.
Meanwhile, still no release date info for Iron Fist S2, Runaways S2, or Daredevil S3 yet, much less even a pickup announcement for New Warriors, but all of those are still supposedly coming out this year.

Re: MCU Megathread
Comcast has officially withdrawn its bid for the Fox film assets, so all that remains is for Fox shareholders to vote in a few days on whether to accept Disney's bid. If they do, look forward to finally getting a Fantastic Four movie that doesn't suck in about 3-5 more years, & mutants starting to pop up in the MCU as well.
James Gunn was just fired from directing Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 after a bunch of gross Twitter jokes he made 6-9 years ago were re-shared by alt-right pricks who had argued with Gunn. Can't blame Disney for wanting to distance themselves from that content; CAN blame Disney for giving alt-right douchebags exactly what they wanted.
Marvel Studios skipped SDCC this year, but the TV division didn't, & we have some news:
Over on Netflix, it appears our next release date is Iron Fist S2 on September 7th.
Teaser footage showed vastly improved fight choreography ("up to Daredevil level", according to attendees).
Colleen & Misty will actually do an official "Daughters of the Dragon" teamup on the show (they can't get their own show because Marvel can't do any more new Netflix titles, only continuations of the 6 current ones).
More scenes set in K'un L'un (probably as flashbacks).
Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary.
Overall consensus: It probably won't suck this time.
[Based on that release date & the pacing of the Netflix shows this year overall, we can probably expect Daredevil S3 in December.]
Also, Cloak & Dagger has been renewed for a 2nd season! There are 2 episodes left of this season, & everything so far is on Hulu.
Also also, Milana Vayntrub hinted that New Warriors HAS been picked up, but they can't say where yet.

Re: MCU Megathread
^It's gotta play a crucial part, since
The shareholders voted today. With a 99% consensus reached in under 10 minutes, it's finally official: The Walt Disney Company has acquired 21st Century Fox (minus Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Television Stations, Fox Sports, Fox News, Fox Business, & Big Ten Network). It is now legal for Marvel Studios to start making plans for the Fantastic Four & X-Men.
Let's talk about this.
Fox clearly had NO CLUE what to do with the Fantastic Four. They've put 'em on film 4 times (none fantastic), the first & last of which were obviously just to retain the rights, & the middle two of which only look good when directly compared to the first & last.
With only three films actually in pre-production/filming right now for "phase 4" (Spidey: Far From Home, Guardians vol 3, Black Widow), & only three others officially in development yet (Black Panther 2, Dr. Strange 2, The Eternals), Marvel Studios could easily squeeze in an F4 flick by 2021, even if it waited for all of those other six movies to come out first. Plus, they could start building up one of those grandiose F4 villains (Doom, Galactus, Kang, et cet) as our next Thanos-level threat.
The X-Men, however, are a different story; their film franchise is actually doing just fine. In fact, it's flourishing, with recent entries Days of Future Past, Deadpool, Logan, & Deadpool 2 among both the best-reviewed AND the most profitable movies in the series. They have their next two films (New Mutants & Dark Phoenix) basically already done, & have been teasing Gambit & X-Force films forever. Bob Iger is even on record stating that he's willing to keep D-Piddy R-rated.
Unlike the F4, the X-Men don't actually need the MCU. So the question here becomes, does the MCU even need the X-Men? My contention is that they do not.
The fundamental premise of the X-Men is "group of superpowered people are oppressed. The fundamental premise of the Avengers is "group of superpowered people are celebrities". These are inherently at odds. And the presence of mutants typically throws a wrench into major comic crossovers too. I say, keep the X-films separate. Different continuity, different universe, et cet.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
Spoiler.

Yeah, let X-Men be it's own deal. Already had it's own Quicksilver anyhow.
Except maybe the occasional Deadpool cameo.

Re: MCU Megathread
I don't know. The MCU TV shows have already had people hating on powered people, and it's worked well enough, imo. Plus, they'll have to make fewer X-Men movies, anyway, if they don't want them to compete with the MCU anymore.
