Movie time!

Star Wars

1. Am I the only who realizes that in the beginning of the film Luke is bitching all the time about wanting to leave Tatooine, but when Obi-wan finally gives him the opportunity he backs down? I know George Lucas was inspired by Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces, which is an outline of every story ever told, and Luke's refusal is supposed to represent "The Refusal of the Call [for adventure]". But it doesn't fit well with how he was moaning and complaining for the first like 15 minutes. Seems a tad contradictory.

I just took it as Luke's immaturity showing through.

2. Luke is harshly judgemental of Han for not believing in the Force when Luke himself had only learned about it, like, a day ago. Though, for that matter, the galaxy at large seems to have forgotten the Force really quickly, as lots of people were still alive who'd seen Jedi doin' stuff.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

3. Leia watches her family, friends, and billions of other people get annihilated along with her home planet. Luke sees an old man he's know for about two days die. When they escape the Death Star, Leia is the one comforting Luke.
