OK, I have no idea why I never watched Utena before, but hot damn is this show ever my ****.

I'm probably 2/3 of the way through? I loved the ending of the Black Rose arc. Juri is one of my favorite characters. I'm also completely digging the aesthetic -- rose petals everywhere and an OST with a vocal chorus accompanied by electic guitar? Please sign me the **** up. I'm basically in love with Utena, but then again, so is everybody.

...yeah, that's Utena for you.

Man. Been ages since I watched that, or any other anime. Think the last anime I watched was 'RiN'. I was still working at scout camp when that came out, and, well, my camp went defunct after the 2011 season. So like what does that tell you. (Well, I guess I rewatched 'Sailor Moon' last year when they started rereleasing it on DVD, but aside from that--------nil.)

^Yeah? Well, it can damn well get in line behind 'Sailor Moon Crystal', 'Slayers TRY', the second series of '.hack', the last fifteen episodes of 'Gravity Falls' and about three seasons' worth of ponies.

Like video games would be the only thing I'd have a ridiculous backlog in.

^ The Saiyan Prince waits for no man nor pony.

Also, um, I watched Episode 69 of Dragon Ball Super. Um...it wasn't good. They took the "gag manga" bit too far.

I watched part of a SM64 120 star speed run. It was a pretty good run but I got tired and stopped watching.

watched Big Eyes and Quiz Show back to back, two movies that have a slightly similar overall theme going on but within two totally different worlds. I appreciate Tim Burton's direction here, it's nice to see him back into doing these pieces about famous artists. It's a better "serious" Tim Burton film than Big Fish, thanks in part to Christoph Waltz, and it was overall a nice watch. I'd give it a solid B.

Quiz Show was pretty fun as well. Ralph Fiennes is great, the supporting cast full of talent, and it was really cool to learn about these two instances of fraud through these two films. This one's a B+ solely because I enjoyed it slightly more. I recommend them both if you like "true story" movies, great actors, and morality dramas.

Just watched 'Swiss Army Man'. It was incredibly bizarre, but good. I can see why it'd be polarising.

Never thought I'd tear up at the end of a movie about a castaway and his hallucinatory friendship with a farting corpse, but there you are.

^Paul Dano did fine, but all anyone will remember is Daniel Radcliffe, I bet.

...poor guy can't catch a break. First I saw Dano he was gettin blown clear off the screen by Daniel Day-Lewis in 'There Will Be Blood', and now, ten years later, here he is playing second-fiddle to waterlogged Harry Potter cadaver. Feh.

OK, I kind of want to marathon all of the DBS I'm currently behind on, but I also don't want to because I'm still lowkey kind of sad that the ~*~*BLACK IS ACTUALLY GOTEN CONFIRMED*~*~ theory - far fetched and unrealistic as it was - was debunked. Would've made an awesome narrative/character arc IMO, and allow growth for the next gen of characters. Also would have been a neat contrast with Trunks and Goten being enemies rather than best friends. Needed some really good and creative writing to make it work, but the payoff could have been great if done well. But no, everything's about Goku always, even when it isn't Goku it's still Goku. Whatever. (Also, I know the show's gonna keep shipping Trunks with a woman who's older than his mom.)

.................imma still watch it for my husbando trunks tho..... imma still watch it.............. maybe it'll prove me wrong and be awesome

Seeing as everyone was killed by the Androids it was pretty much impossible even if he managed to be born before ChiChi died because there's no way to explain how nobody knew about him until he randomly showed up in his 20's. It would take a retcon to do it but it is an interesting idea.

Without retcons I think it would've been best if they made him a different timeline's real Goku who didn't hit his head as a baby instead of what they did.

Ink Master

I love competition reality shows when they're specialized like this one. The extremely harsh and technical critiques, mixed with my fondness for tattoo culture, just really make this one addictive as **** for me. You gotta appreciate a show where the craft is taken seriously, and despite the usual reality TV editing that emphasizes interpersonal drama, this one is second only to Face-Off for craft-based competition shows.

Yo ok just watched like 4 eps of DBS. I'm dead. I'm seriously dead. I've died. This show killed me.
- VEGETA CALLED FUTURE TRUNKS HIS SON AFTER THEY SPARRED. THE LAST TIME THEY TRAINED TOGETHER (hyperbolic time chamber) VEGETA CALLED HIM TRASH. TRUNKS LOOKED LIKE HE WAS GONNA CRY FROM HAPPINESS I'MMMMM???,??!???

- Ok, the only way I can rationalize this otherwise creepy romance between Trunks and a woman who is older than his mother is by assuming that when she shrank into her kid form physically, it also mentally/emotionally reverted her maturity. While somehow keeping her memories. Like. I'll just tell myself magic ******** somehow made the reversion not creepy. If I put aside the extremely uncomfortable age differences, their reunion scene in the future was very sweet because they each had thought the other was dead. Poor Trunks literally thought he lost *everyone* so it was so nice to find he was wrong ;__;

- I love that Trunks is portrayed with such emotional complexity??? He has PTSD and anxiety attacks/flashbacks from his DECIDEDLY VERY TRAUMATIC experiences and tears up a couple times and is just. Holy **** I love him. I loved him already in DBZ but in Super he is competing for best husbando of all time. Like. Frick

- tsundere dad Vegeta gives me life. Him smiling/looking proud of Trunks then pretending he didn't when Goku laughs at him. 10/10

- I CAN'T BELIEVE TRUNKS'S SWORD ACTUALLY DID STUFF IN A FIGHT, HOLY CRAP

- flashback to hot samurai Trunks was really really welcome

- the bad guy went on an extermination spree because Goku pissed him off. Relatable.
I have to stop watching bc I need to sleep or whatever, but. Getting back into Super was not a mistake. I don't know what I'm gonna do after this arc though because without Future Trunks life is meaningless.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

^^ that would've been interesting, too, actually. There are so many ways this could have played out more interestingly than it did and done more justice to existing characters' depth (other than Trunks who is definitely getting his fair share of development, bless). Although to be fair, I'm actually liking the new character ~real villain~ quite a bit. He's a cynical attractive ******* who hates people, especially Goku. Same, honestly.

Kid Mai seems more childish than DB or Future Mai so I actually think you're correct.

The new villain is neat but a little basic, I think there was more potential with him and I hope the manga does play around with him a bit since it is significantly different.

Watched through DBS 64. Where to even begin. You know how I said I was dead before? Lol jk I wasn't anywhere near dead yet. I'm definitely dead now.
List of things that killed me, in no particular order:

- VEGETA SAYING "I'M GOING TO DEFEAT YOU, AND IT'S NOT FOR ME. IT'S FOR TRUNKS AND HIS FUTURE"

- Future Trunks and Kid Trunks having a meaningful interaction!!!!!!!!! Kid Trunks is so CUTE. And Future Trunks gave him a #realtalk SO for the very first time he sort of understands that his entire life is a relative heaven compared to his other self. That poor kid has an identity crisis and then tries to get Goten to help him fight in the future ;__;

- ZAMASU FUSION IS HOT!!!!!!

- I legit almost cried when Zamasu tried to blame his self righteous ******** on Trunks. Shut the **** UP and LEAVE MY SON ALONE. HE HAS LIVED HIS ENTIRE LIFE SINGLEHANDEDLY SHOULDERING THE GUILT OF BEING COMPLICIT IN TIME TRAVEL RELATED ATROCITIES, BUT HE DID IT TO SAVE THE **** WORLD CUT THIS POOR BOY A GODDAMN BREAK!!!!!!! Trunks's power explosion was almost as good as SSJ2 Gohan for me, like,, "I DON'T CARE IF I'M A SINNER I'M GOING TO SAVE EVERYONE" JUST **** KILL ME PLEASE THANKS!!!!!!

- no for real Zamasu fusion is so hot what the hell

- "I'm just being self-absorbed, it doesn't matter if no one is listening." why is Zamasu so relatable.

- VEGETA SHOWING OPEN AFFECTION AND CONCERN TOWARD FUTURE TRUNKS IS **** ME UP OKAY. THAT BOY HAS BEEN SO STARVED OF LOVE HIS WHOLE LIFE AND VEGETA IS SO PRIDEFUL THAT FOR HIM TO OWN UP AND MAKE UP FOR HIS PAST BEHAVIOR LIKE THIS IS SSOOOOO..!!!!!!!!!

- This arc is taking all of the familial angst and time travel angst eating at my poor husband from Cell era DBZ and driving it up to 100. It's giving him development and closure in these exact aspects of his character which are so important. I'm so happy but also OH MY GOD LEAVE HIM ALONE PLEASE JUST GIVE FUTURE TRUNKS A DAMN BREAK

Ok but all the good **** aside, I'm pissy about the time travel. Like, they killed Zamasu in the main timeline, he never had the opportunity to go to Trunks's future. The "oh I had the time ring so it's ok" doesn't hold up because he died before that potential outcome could happen. So here's MY version:

- There are 4 timelines from the Cell saga, obvi. I've maintained this since forever. Main timeline, alternate timeline (Cell didn't come back in time from the future but Trunks did), future 1 (Trunks's future in which he returns from main timeline), alternate future (Trunks dies, the one Cell came from, Trunks returned from alternate timeline and died).

- Main Timeline: Future Trunks comes back from future 1, and they go kill Zamasu. No evil Zamasu is born here.

- Alternate Timeline: This timeline's Future Trunks died when he returned, so he never came back and therefore Zamasu was never killed by Beerus. Also Goku is alive because he was saved in this timeline. This is the timeline that created Black.

- future 1: we watched the show, we know how this one goes.

- future 2: not involved, maybe this Zamasu doesn't snap because Trunks died anyway so there's no vendetta. I mean honestly this future is probably already **** so I'm not surprised

ANYWAY YOU'RE WELCOME I MADE THE TIME TRAVEL MORE COHERENT FOR YOU DBS grumblegrumble
