Saw Ringing Bell/Chirin no Suzu.

Looks cute, right? WRONG. IT IS SOUL-CRUSHING. NOT A SINGLE GODDAMN HAPPY THING HAPPENS IN THIS MOVIE.

A video of someone doing latte art of Miles Edgeworth's sprite when he gets rekt. It was an excellent work of cinema.

SU--------episode "Crack the Whip". It was really good, but kind of rough, too.
Stevonnie took some names----------gave Jasper the surprise of her life, I shouldn't wonder. And seeing Stevonnie, wielding Rose's sword and shield, riding Lion into battle, that was rad as hell. I wondered if we'd ever see that, and it was baller.

That said...don't mind telling you, I didn't enjoy watching Jasper beat merry hell out of Amethyst whilst mocking her cruelly, and I really didn't like seeing Amethyst looking all down at the end because she couldn't help out more in the fight. I mean, the writing was good and all, and I like that Jasper's a credible threat (she wouldn't be an interesting villain if all she had was punching----------she's got plans, she can play head-games, man), but that doesn't make it nice to watch, any more than seein Vader chop Luke's hand off is. You know? Man.

[EDIT: Man. You know...far be it for me to complain. Like, I'd rather be gettin new SU every day than having a four-month hiatus. That said...two a week would have been okay, you know? Not just as a hiatus stopgap---------like, two a week, that would give us a minute to breathe, here. To digest this biz. We're coming up on season's end, and having four fifths of the season drop in the space of a single month don't allow for much build-up, man. Like, they were sowing the seeds of the season two finale/season three premiere as early as Steven Bomb #2 (we first hear about the Cluster in "Keeping it Together", as I recall, yeah? Officially S2E8, that one was). I have no idea where things are going. Jasper is a looming presence of late---------possibly the season finale sees her dealt with. Like who the hell knows.
It got leaked to YouTube. I watch leaks, because I'm a monster. (Console myself I always watch the official release as well.)

Actual half-hour episode, incidentally. That's bound to make syndication a little screwy. (Also means no new episode tomorrow. 'New episode every weekday for the rest of the summer' my ass, Crewniverse. Lying liar lie liar lie-faces who tell lies and untruths and lies and deceptions and lies. I always knew.)
Think they're setting Steven up to take Rose's place as leader of the Crystal Gems, man. Seen it for a while, now. He's coming into his powers, and quite clearly he is the best, smartest one of them. He's got that George Bailey/Luke Skywalkery knack for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. That's a valuable trait in a hero.
So, I watched the Tales of Symphonia OVA as it was coming out, a few years back. I was really disappointed and didn't really like it so I stopped watching after like the very beginning of the Tethe'alla arc.

Now, I am currently in the middle of my millionth playthrough of ToS, and I decided to re-watch it just because I saw some gifs of the final fight with Mithos that looked raw as hell. So I was like "I'll watch an episode or two and see if I can make it through it."

It is currently 1:30am, I have watched through the entirety of the Tethe'alla arc, and I have cried on at least 5 different occasions.

WHY DID I HATE ON THIS SO MUCH WHEN I WAS YOUNGER???? IT IS SO GOOD. IT IS SO GOOD. OH MY GOD. ****, MAN. I HAVEN'T CRIED AT PEOPLE'S BACKSTORIES IN THIS GAME IN YEARS BECAUSE THEY'RE, LIKE, OLD NEWS...... AND YET!!!!!!!!!! FRICK DUDE. FRICK. ****.

They just met Mithos and I'm going to be absolutely emotionally devastated by the next arc, I can already tell.

also they show Lloyd blacksmithing in a tanktop and hes really hot. gods all bless.

1000/10.

Wife and I watched the first two episodes of Stranger Things. I'm thoroughly intrigued and excited to see how it plays out.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 54.

Pretty good, had a nice fight scene (though it was just training), and I really appreciate how most of Dragon Ball Super's comedy is legitimately funny. I didn't usually find any of it humorous in Dragon Ball Z, aside from a few standout scenes/episodes (The Puzzle of General Tao was pretty damn funny). They're not really long scenes, just short, funny little occurrences. For example, Beerus was talking to Zeno while close to a stone table, and he fiercely bows so his head goes straight through the table. They don't focus on it, and it's just something funny that happens.

I'm so behind on DBS (by which I mean I'm behind, like, 2 episodes). On account of i marathoned the entire ToS OVA over the course of like a day and have been really emotional about it ever since.

THE UNITED WORLD ARC RUINED MY LIFE. I loved the way they really emphasized the parallels between Lloyd's journey and Mithos's, and they made the fight against him approximately a million percent more tragic. And Lloyd saying goodbye to Kratos? Just kill me, please. I haven't cried this much at anything ToS related since like. My third playthrough.

I give it a completely unbiased 10/10 (only if you played the game. As a standalone anime I'm sure it's not that good)

Is it in dub, and does it follow the game's events exactly or does it change/add things? I might give that a look as I loved ToS (the others I've played aren't as great, sadly).

It is not dubbed, it has Japanese voice actors. It omits plot lines that simply don't fit into an anime narrative (partially to make it a shorter overall story and partially because they would be boring to watch) and it alters the way certain things are revealed / how certain things happen in a way that I think tells a more powerful story, as a cinematic work rather than a video game.

Because we didn't have to spend money for it, Ladyfriend & I got BvS: Dawn of Justice from the library. Theatrical edition; for some reason they didn't have the director's cut.

There are some good things in this movie. Affleck gives an excellent performance despite a badly-written Bat-script. All the Wonder Woman stuff is great. Alfred is great. The teasers for Flash/Aquaman/Cyborg are nice. The fights are good.
Everything else really is a mess. Why is Perry White assigning one of his established newsroom reporters to sports all of a sudden? Who the crap was that guy with Lois at the beginning who got killed for being a mole?
Snyder says it was Jimmy Olsen, but how the crap would we know that?
Why is Jesse Eisenberg playing Luthor like a Heath-Ledger-Joker?
What kind of moron stands directly between Superman & the monster he created to kill Superman?
Why doesn't Superman just say the important part of his "I don't wanna fight" speech to Batman instead of making small talk first while marching towards him menacingly? How many nightmares is Bruce gonna have in just a few days?

That's the big problem with BvS; other than (really good) fight scenes, the best parts are the parts foreshadowing other movies: Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg*, & the solo Batfleck film.

*Seriously, DC just called him "Cyborg"? Let's rename the other Justice League members accordingly: Strong Flying Alien, Rich Ninja, Warrior Lady, Fast Guy, Ocean Man, Space Cop, & Lightning Kid.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^RedLetterMedia got to 'Space Cop' first, and RLM's version is so much better than DC's that it frankly boggles the mind.

(NSFW for language and unspeakable radness. Boss-man walks by while you're watching this, it'll rip his goshdarn tits off, man. Don't want that on your conscience, do you.)

Watched today's new SU. (It's the Summer of Steven. Sue me.) (Hahaa, moar like 'SUe me', rite? Ahaha. Boo the 'funniest man alive' guy.)
Spoiler.
Guess Jasper's out of the pictuure, now. Too bad---------I liked her. Good villain. I like a good villain.

the most recent non-Olympic, non-wrestling thing I watched was a bunch of the show Pizza Masters that's apparently from the Cooking Channel. The show is honestly awful. It's basically Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives except Guy Fieri is replaced by two Italian stereotypes and it's all about pizza. Except when it's not about pizza, which is often. There was an episode where the only pizza they ate was pizza they made themselves. The other restaurants they went to were for burgers and pastries and ****. They also like to go into detail about things that need no detail. Like they had to describe the entire process of making canned baked beans.

tbf, aquaman is definitely just the same thing as ocean man

Yeah, I feel the same way about Cyborg. Way to get really creative there, lads. Quality writing all around.

Let's not pretend superhero names are very creative or good, ever. Well, Punisher is an okay one but it's still just descriptive.

...you guys are weird, man.

Vast majority of superheroes got stupid-ass names. I mean, come on, Capt, is 'Warrior Lady' really any stupider than 'Wonder Woman'? Like, did whatshername choose that name for herself? I'm asking you, I don't really do DC------------would a badass Amazon warrior lady call herself that? 'Can you believe it? I can punch dudes, and I'm biologically female?!? Holy crap, right?' Pffft.

Take the piss out of Aquaman's dumb name, and ignore Superman. Laziest naming in the world. 'Let's see, he's a man, and he gots superhuman powers...oh, fiddle-dee-dee, what should we call him...wait, I've got it------Squirrel-Girl!' Then the other writers tackle him and beat him up.

Best superhero names are just people's names, man. That has to take balls of solid rock. No secret identity. Imagine Nick Fury going out to his mailbox. Maybe it's just junk mail and bills, or maybe Baron Von F*cker had his Hydra guys load it up with genetically-engineered super-scorpions can kill a guy just by lookin at him sideways. Good on Nick Fury, man.
