Movies 22/46
Italic/bold - First time viewing
Yellow - Watched in theaters (in 2016)
A high-octane over the top action movie filmed completely in first person, and man was it fun. I just hope you don't get motion sickness.
Criminal - 4/10
Kevin Costner is a psychopath who gets some dude's memories implanted in his head and learns to care or something. Pretty forgettable.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 9/10
Man I love BB-8. He's half the reason I rewatch this movie.
The Huntsman: Winter's War - 6/10
A rather unnecessary sequel to that Snow White movie that they tried to make all epic. Some of the effects were cool and that's about it.
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole - 8.5/10
Your typical fantasy story about an aspiring youth who believes in some legend and then there's a villainous plot and then adventure happens and he discovers the legend is true, except, they're all owls. OWLS. Even more strange... it was actually good. The visuals, the characters, the action, everything, I loved all of it. I... how. The only nitpick I have is that the animation, while impressive, took a while to not look weird, I spent the first 15 minutes or so wishing the characters looked more cartoony.
Captain America: Civil War - 9/10
Completely lived up to my expectations. The action was really creative in showing all the different ways the characters could use their powers (they even managed to make Falcon cool), and I liked the introductions of the new characters, particularly Black Panther. As for Spider-Man, this is probably his best film incarnation yet... but he did feel a bit shoehorned in, he honestly didn't add much to the movie during the 15 minutes he was in it.

Whoops, forgot to stay updated lately. Some of these dates might be wrong, & I may be under-counting.
Movies: 63/46
X-Men (22 May): B+
The Wind Rises (23 May): B-. Not Miyazaki's best, despite his perhaps more personal connection with the subject matter.
X-Men: First Class (24 May): A-
X2 (25 May): A
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (27 May): D+
Nightcrawler (28 May): B+. It's a bit jumpy, but that's kinda warranted.
Dead Poets Society (30 May): A
Homeward Bound (30 May): A-
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (16 Jun): B.
The deviations from the book are mostly forgivable, & some are even really good. But the sound mixing is so freaking bad that I started to dread action scenes just because I was sick of having to turn the volume up & down.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

The Good Dinosaur (30 Jul): B+. The paleontology was kinda more fascinating than the plot.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (7 Aug): C+. For some reason, the library copy I borrowed only had the theatrical cut, not the extended, so I haven't actually seen the good version of the film yet.

9. Avenged - 08/17/2016 - 07/10
Lady on a cross-country trip gets kidnapped by rednecks, savaged and left for dead out in the desert. An injun shaman finds her dying and attempts to save her with his medicine, but inadvertantly summons an Apache warrior spirit to possess her. Now a zombleton, the lady stalks the earth, the spirit granting her the superhuman strength, speed and martial prowess to take vengeance on those who wronged her.
Kind of a mix of 'I Spit on Your Grave' and that dumb MST3K 'Zombie Nightmare' flick, but better than either. Captured some of the pathos of finding you've accidentally become a gross monster version of your former self (been there). Not bad.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (18 Sept): B+.
Mandie & the Secret Tunnel (27 Sept): D. Now I know the template M. Night Shamamalaman used for editing The Last Airbender.
The Killing Joke (29 Sept): B+. Adding some more Batgirl stuff would've been great...if they hadn't added that.
Spy Kids (2 Oct): B+.
The Shining (2 Oct): A-. The opening adds a lot of good characterization that nobody seems to ever talk about.

Iron Man 3 (8 Oct): A-
Thor: The Dark World (8 Oct): B
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (8 Oct): A
Guardians of the Galaxy (8 Oct): A
Le Voyage dans la Lune (18 Oct): B+. Every single bit of the science is wrong, of course, right down to the stupid robes the astronomers wear at the beginning, but the film actually holds up as something fun to watch.

What If [aka The F Word] (21 Oct): A-. More com-rom than rom-com, & it has Harry Potter match wits with Kylo Ren. :)
Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (22 Oct): B. Let's not pretend this isn't Tim Burton's take on X-Men.
