"Luke Skywalker could be gay" quote the Mark Hamill

http://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/ma ... isode-viii
“I just read online that JJ is very much open to that. In the old days, you would get fan mail,” he said to the Sun. “But now fans are writing and asking all these questions: ‘I’m bullied in school … I’m afraid to come out.’ They say to me: ‘Could Luke be gay?’ I’d say it is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. If you think Luke is gay, of course he is. You should not be ashamed of it. Judge Luke by his character, not by who he loves.”

His comments follow others made by Abrams, who suggested that it would be “incredibly narrow-minded” to assume that homosexuality would not be part of the Star Wars franchise in the future. “When I talk about inclusivity, it’s not excluding gay characters,” he said. “It’s about inclusivity. So, of course …”
I'm really liking this new Star Wars direction, they know how huge it is with younger fans and the impact, at least actually saying "hey if you think this character is not straight/not trans, then yeah go for it" makes a huge difference.

Neat.

As far as Luke goes, I always saw him as kind of asexual. I could just never picture him in a romantic relationship. The only time he ever showed interest in a girl was with Leia and, well, you know.

That's... really the same for every fictional character... you know that right?

Some fit it better than others but that doesn't stop some people. This is more like Hamill saying that it's not going to be important in the main story so you can believe as you please. Or at least that's how I see it?

I would think that if Star Wars is going to introduce homosexuality they would introduce a new character rather than reveal an old one. But, if it makes sense in the story then it'll be fine.

^^I don't see that happening. Speaking just for myself, I don't care if they leave Luke's sexuality ambiguous; whereas I would probably be profoundly annoyed if Jarjar, the biggest pangalactic dipsh*t this side of Wesley Crusher, ever showed up in a piece of media I was watching ever again.

I want Jar Jar back just because the Sith Lord Binks theory was so awesome. It'd go a long way towards redeeming the prequels.

Homosexuality already existed in Star Wars, just not particularly in the movies.

Luke is sexually attracted to the Force, not other people.

I kinda assumed he wanted to bone Leia before he found out they were siblings.

Just like with Dumbledore, it's completely irrelevant, because Luke has no romance subplot (since the EU was decanonized).

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Isn't that illegal?

^ Not in Thailand. In Thailand you can marry anything. You can marry an anime character or your kitchen table, so why not marry a conceptual higher power? I wonder if Luke will move to Thailand in the next Star Wars movie.

I personally approve of Skywalker's hypothetical deisexual matrimony to the force, and will gladly bring a delicious dish made of sweet potato, syrup, and red pepper flakes to the ceremony.

Actually, I really just want that dish. My mom makes it for holiday celebrations and I have no idea what it's called. I should really get the full recipe from her.

It'd do about as much to redeem the prequels as CPR would to resuscitate a skeleton.

Wouldn't matter to me if he was gay or not. It's not relevant to his character. It just happens to be the case.

As for Jar Jar, as long as they keep his awesome moments like he had in the Clone Wars cartoons or make the Sith idea canon, sure. Otherwise, not much point if he doesn't do anything new. I like the character, sure(I know, I am one of the few), but why bring him back without something to add to the table?
What's the matter, scared?
