Jem and the Holograms (2015) misses the point

I had never heard nor cared about Jem and the Holograms before, but it was an 80's animated series that was pretty much just 80's as **** and that's all there is to it. Here are some screen shots for you to appreciate:

Apparently, they are making a 2015 live action movie. I don't know why, but it's a thing they are doing. And the trailer looks like unmemorable modernized whatever that no one is going to care about. The only way they were going to make this pay off was with **** over-the-top 80's everywhere, but instead they're trying to take themselves seriously, and it just looks lame. Here's the trailer:

Who cares, am I right? I'm so disappointed.

The only good thing to come out of this is Jem and the Holograms crappy overpriced hair dye, which I saw at the mall the other day. At least there's that.

I've never watched Jem and the Holograms aside from a few clips and knowing the premise. Then when I saw the trailer I was so confused. I was like "Wait, isn't there like action and intrigue and some sci-fi? What is this Justin Beiber garbage?"

This is the injection of life the Jem franchise needs. Get with the times grandma.

I almost feel like this is a joke. Like this is something that the Onion made. That people didn't really sit at a table and create this movie.

^^ THAT WOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN GREAT

Whatever they were going to do, they needed to absolutely go over the top. All-in. Extreme. There was some dedication that needed to happen that did not and everyone is let down

With that level of knock-back, Jem might as well be a Castlevania character.
