I watch a lot of old movies but generally not the whole thing. Does that count?

As with last year, new additions to the list will be bolded. Also with only counting such movies as I've never seen before, as a carrot to paring down my Stack.

Movies 1/40-----------

Big Hero 6 - 01/01/15 - 10/10

So, like, against all the odds, the first movie I watched in 2015 wasn't pornographic in any way. (Not to pretend I haven't enjoyed filthy R34 images of some of the characters.) (Shoutout to Shadman.)

BH6 was excellent. Like, the action was great, the story and characterisation hit me right in my wheelhouse, and the writing was razor-sharp. It was so good. I watched it sitting next to my silly-filly six-year-old niece, and I think we spent about the same amount of time giggling in childlike delight. Just a good, nice time.

Baymax was super cute.

(OOC: seeing the conceptual art during the credits, I half-expected to see Jamie Hewlett on staff. Some of it was very reminiscent of his style.)

Movies 3/40
Movies with a dash in front are ones I've seen before.
  1. -Election (Alexander Payne, 1999) - January 1 - Late 90s comedy classic. Love it.
  2. Himizu (Sion Sono, 2011) - January 2 - Great film, but not quite as great as everyone says.
  3. I Saw the Devil (Kim Jee-woon, 2010) - January 3 - Most disturbing movie I've ever seen. I still liked it though.

Movies 2/40-----------

Big Hero 6 - 01/01/15 - 10/10
The Birdman - 01/04/15 - 10+/10

Excellent, pitch-black absurdist comedy.

I haven't seen Michael Keaton in anything in ages. He was terrific.

Movies 1/40 (that's about 20 years worth of movies for me >_<)

The Admiral: Raging Currents - 1/6 - 10/10

I could probably find something to criticize about it if I actually wanted to, but honestly, if someone had handed me millions of dollars and told me I could make any movie I wanted, it would've been this. Just the fact it exists in English is worth a 10/10. :p

I would say if something is billed as a TV movie, why not? Sounds cromulent to me.

As far as special length episodes go, that's a bit more ambiguous. I'd be more inclined to say no in most cases, especially if it's just a longer series finale or so.

In all honesty I'm not going to be closely monitoring everyone's lists like it's some sort of contest. It's just kind of a fun little game. Use your own discretion.

1. Akira -- I watched it because my friend was like, "I don't personally care about this movie but it's one you need to see if you want to sound educated and elitist when you talk to people about Japanese animated films." TETSUUOOOOOOO KANEDAAAAAA/10
2. Kung Fu Hustle -- that dude's buttcrack/10
