Dance party endings. Even as a kid Val thought they were stupid.

As far as movies themselves go, individual tropes can be done well or poorly depending on the competence and/or creativity of the execution.
What bothers me is people who consider themselves to be experts on cinema, but believe that all films must adhere to a strict set of rules and refuse to believe that any film that doesn't follow those rules has less merit than films that do. That strict set of rules can vary from person to person, but yeah. Irritating as hell. I'm not saying that you have to like all styles of cinema, but at least respect that they exist.
And hey, maybe watch a few films outside of your norm. You might find that you really do like them.
Yeah, I used to be one of those myself during college. Then I grew up.

Actually, I take it back. There is one thing I truly hate: action sequences that are edited so you have no idea what the **** is going on.

Is it possible to hate something and also love it at the same time?
Like, I kind of really like horrible dialogue. You know, characters talking like total jackasses. Hemming and hawwing, cursing, pausing whilst searching for words (and/or saying the wrong words because they couldn't be bothered), talking over each other. This is how people talk in real life. We sound dumb. This is real.
I could wish we (humans as a whole, I mean, here) spoke like we lived inside 'Lion in Winter' or 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead', but let's be honest-------most of us sound like sh*tty Michael Bay characters in moments of duress, and that's when we're most interesting.

I really really really really really really
really really
REALLY REALLY
REALLY
hate
opening narration.
There are only a handful of movies which pulled this off well. Star Wars and The Fellowship of the Ring. Every other time I watch a movie that starts out with someone saying "Long ago in the---" or that forces me to read a blurb of words, I immediately slump in my chair and know I'm going to hate this movie.
I hate this trope in action/sci-fi movies where a pilot is in trouble and going to crash into some canyon or valley or whatever. Then the camera cuts to the cliff edge of the canyon, and we're led to believe that for a split second the pilot didn't make it. But then -- whoops! How surprising! They dramatically pulled up at the very last second.
I'm not fond of boring, uninspired war scenes set in ancient times. They all feel the same. All of them.

I hate it when a movie is in 3-D but they still use that 2-D cinematography technique where in order to shift focus to a character in the background they blur the character in the foreground.
Because if it's in 3-D then YOU HAVE THIS BLURRY ******** IN THE FOREGROUND THAT IS STILL POPPING OUT AT YOU BUT NOW IT'S BLURRED AND HEADACHE-INDUCING. They pulled this in Avatar: Blue Pocahontas, and I have never forgiven them.

I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you.

^ "Rack focus."
Shallow focus in 3D really bothers me. It kind of hurts my eyes and gives me a headache.
Actually, 3D in and of itself bothers me. I just find it distracting. That being said, Goodbye to Language was an interesting experience, mostly because the 3D was actually meant to call attention to itself, being an experimental film and all.

2-D cel characters on 3-D CGI model sets. Most egregious example I can think of right now is this scene.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

My issue with romance is it feels kinda more like this:
Season 1-2:
"Hi. I am this character. You will grow to love my character and see me as a person. Throughout the various episodes of Season 1 and 2, you will see me talk about all sorts of things. I'll talk about my relationship with others. I'll talk about the world. I'll talk about what I'm feeling. I'll talk about what others are feeling."
Season 3:
"My character development will continue... but this time, I have met a romantic partner. Slowly, I still start bringing them up into more and more of my converstaions.. I will keep mentioning them. I will keep acting in trying to impress them. Before I used to talk about more human things and had a balance, but now I'm starting to become obsessed, but this is portrayed as totally normal."
Season 4-5:
"I am officially tethered to my romantic partner. Any interactions will have to involve them too. I will talk about how much I miss them when I am separated from them. I will not be talking as much about the things I did during seasons 1-2, instead I will be constantly allowing my relationship to be dictating my interactions with others while this romance becomes working its way into te overall arcs of seasons 4-5. There will probably be some kind of a breakup arc wherein I wil lbe completely depressed. Like what happens to real people, but I will allow this to completely dominate me."
They always try to show the romance develop in some way except it feels so... unnatural, like all we see is them obsessing over each other or trying to impress one another. :V It's like... okay, who are you? But why does this keep taking over your character? Then again, I do not comprehend romances anyways.

i hate when tv shows spend entire seasons dedicated to building up a big ending only to swipe the rug under it and leave everything the same so they can keep milking the same plots for another full season.
obviously one of the best things a show can do is properly toy with audience's expectations and shock them when a twist happens, but when it accomplishes nothing in the long-run it pisses me off. How I Met Your Mother's **** ending is a good example of this. And I just watched Sons of Anarchy season 4 and it ended up that pretty much nothing is actually accomplished in the end despite thirteen episodes of building-up to a huge ending.
