There's no details yet but it's confirmed. DBZ is back.
I'm putting money on a new series by 2016; video games, manga and movies have been toying with moving the franchise forward in recent years. I can't see it not happening.
I gotta say, I hope it's better than the last film, though. Thoughts?

I see a few more movies since apparently they had to back out despite Goku literally turning God mode, but not a continued series.
Lest they make an interquel between say the Buu Saga and GT. Or between Cell Saga and Buu Saga.
course we all know what happened when they inserted a run between Frieza Saga and Android Saga

^ True, but the Garlic Jr. Saga isn't considered canon. If a canonical saga got slipped in somewhere it could work.
I always thought a prequel would do well. Something spanning from Bardock to where Dragon Ball began. They've done quite a bit of stuff involving that time period, like Episode of Bardock, Dragon Ball Minus, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman and such. Plus now we can see more of Tarble, Gine, Tights, Beerus, Whis, and other more recent characters. I also wouldn't mind seeing lesser characters elaborated upon, such as Grandpa Gohan, Mutaito and Master Shen. While we're af it we could see younger versions of characters like Master Roshi, Raditz, and Ox King.
There's a lot of potential in the series' past to dig into, and there's always a chance to see what happens between EoS GT and DBGT: A Hero's Legacy, or even after that. I guess there's even Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission to consider, if it's indeed canon.
Actually, it makes me wonder just where in the timeline this movie will fit. There's lots of room. There's many, many empty gaps of time able to be neatly filled.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and there's a new character introduced in the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse game. If he's considered canon, that's a game changer (but it's unlikely).
