Seinfeld turns 25
The first episode of Seinfeld, "The Seinfeld Chronicles," first aired on July 6, 1989. Throughout the 90's it became a pretty big cultural force and is widely considered one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. If you flip through cable right now, there are probably at least two channels replaying an episode of Seinfeld at this moment.
My older brother was a big Seinfeld fan and I remember borrowing his DVDs when I was in 4th or 5th grade and watching them every night before I fell asleep. It was one of the first sitcoms I ever really loved and if I see one of my favorite episodes on TV I always stop to watch it. My favorite episode ever is probably "The Limo," though I'm also quite fond of "The Implant" just because the double-dipping scene is one of my favorite moments ever.

Yeah, it's been a long time and now the show's starting to look pretty dated, but it's still funnier than every sitcom that's tried to imitate it since then. They always fall short and just seem like they can't decide if they're Seinfeld, Friends, or Roseanne (ugh).
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

I've run into a lot of people who don't like it because it feels so dated, but I think that adds to its charm.
Sitcoms that strive to emulate sitcoms of the past instead of doing their own thing are so annoying. If I never see a TV reviewer declare something to be "The new Friends" again, I will be a very happy man.
