-Noriko's Dinner Table - (Sion Sono, 2005) - 24 May 2014 - A+
Chungking Express is my de facto all time favorite movie. Noriko's Dinner Table is also ranks very high for me.
These films also cointain two of my fictional favorite characters: the former has Faye (played by the amazing Faye Wong), a hilarious exaggeration of the manic pixie dream girl trope. The latter has Kumiko (played by Tsugumi, who in spite of showing clear acting talent in this film for some reason went on to do AV), an enjoyably nihilistic evil mastermind.
Favorite film I've watched overall: Chungking Express
Favorite film I've seen for the first time: Poetry
Favorite film from 2013 or 2014: Nobody's Daughter Haewon
Most disappointing movie: Stray Dogs

I should edit my megapost at some point butttt!:
Maleficent ("Maléfique" actually since je l'ai vu en français)-- 7.5/10
Like, not the most amazing nor ground breaking movie ever. But I liked the way it tied back to the Disney film, I liked how it actually did manage to be feministly progressive but without that being shoved down your throat or the sole point of the movie, I liked it a lot visually and I really liked Angelina Jolie('s cheekbones). It was good and enjoyable.
cinematography and content of flight scenes were so totally ripped off of httyd tho ngl

I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you.

A Tom Cruise sci-fi movie based on an obscure manga, and it was actually good? Edge of Tomorrow really surprised me. A solid, cleverly written sci-fi movie.
Also it was really odd hearing Sharlto Copley with an American accent in Europa Report, after being used to his "I alwees wonted a woffe" voice from District 9 and Elysium.

The Lorax - 06/14/2014 - 0/10
Peabody----Charming, smart and well-executed. Probably the best 'film adaptation of old cartoon' Hollywood has put out in recent memory-----faithful to the source material, but not entirely slave to it. Good flick.
Lorax----....hhhhhh. Rarely do I feel insulted by a movie, but, like, on top of being just ugly, lazy and mean-spirited, this dang thing was utterly lacking in any nuance or subtlety. Like, there's rather a reason the original story didn't feature any cartoonish evil bad guys, and it's rather the same reason that it feels less stupid and dated than horsesh*t like 'Captain Planet'. Wuff. Just...yuck.

Arthur (Gordon, 1981), 6-14-10 – 8.5/10
Not a bad movie for Dudley Moore, not bad at all. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed watching an immature multi-millionaire finally summoning the courage to grow up.

-Sunny (Kang Hyeong-cheol, 2011) - 3 June 2014 - A
The Guilt Trip (Anne Fletcher, 2012) - 10 June 2014 - C-
Typical forgettable comedy that apparently just went in and out of theaters like it went in and out of my brain. It was so good, I forgot I even watched it less than 10 minutes after finishing it.
The Sun's Burial - (Nagisa Oshima, 1960) - 13 June 2014 - A
Harsh, real. One of the first and best films of the Japanese New Wave of the 1960's. Oshima is often called "Japan's Jean-Luc Godard," though in his mind, Godard should have been called "France's Oshima." Both rank among my all time favorite directors.
The Housemaid - (Im Sangsoo, 2010) - 23 June 2014 - B-
The original film The Housemaid from 1960 is one of the most highly regarded films in the history of Korean cinema. In spite of the gorgeous cinematography and Jeon Do-yeon's nude scenes excellent performance, the remake just doesn't add up.
I also re-watched Poetry on the 20th, but I'm not going to count that.
