Finally saw this movie.
I'm still kind of ehh about the fact that they tried to make it a point that this movie is about THE LOVE BETWEEN SISTERS AND NOT BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN and then they still have the pointless love interest, but it's disney so
It was super cute and my favorite Disney movie in a long time though. Really pretty castle too

I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you.

I watched this movie again last night and thought about this question. I decided there actually is a really good reason why: further misdirection. Kristoff is there so that you still expect the "true love's kiss" cliche all the way until the VERY end, when they throw in the twist.CuccoLady wrote:I'm still kind of ehh about the fact that they tried to make it a point that this movie is about THE LOVE BETWEEN SISTERS AND NOT BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN and then they still have the pointless love interest, but it's disney so

^Plus, it's a great model of love that ISN'T based on just 'love at first sight,' it's an intentional subversion. At the end
You see Anna and Kristoff not only model taking their relationship slow, Kristoff model's asking for Anna's consent(!) to kiss her. These are huge steps, far from Disney's traditional fare.
Spoilers for Enchanted (and Frozen):
Giselle also fell in love with a prince, Edward, but at the end she ended up with Robert who gave her "true love's kiss". So this isn't the first time a princess didn't go for her first choice. Well, Giselle had a choice anyway... Unlike Anna.
I really liked Frozen. Although the jokes involving Olaf were really dark sometimes: "I've been impaled!"
And go watch Enchanted now.

Sorry to necropost-
I have no idea how I managed to stay (mostly) spoiler free with this film for like eight months but I did and
Squeege and i just finished watching it. omg. so good. Linguistically not exactly timeless (re: "awkward; no, i'm awkward" and "that happened" along with other minor phrases that obviously became part of our modern phrase inventory within the last two years) but
I would NOT have expected the Hans plot twist if I were not up to date on Game of Thrones/SOIAF, to be perfectly honest...
hey mike come say things about the film so that we can discuss because I forgot literally everything you said because wine does that!
