If Cartoon Network got Doug...

What if Cartoon Network got Doug instead of Disney? How would the show have been different?

how do you mean

Like, the people who came up with, developed, changed, altered, tweaked, and eventually made Doug all belonged to Cartoon Network, yeah? So if Disney "got" it, does that mean that all of those people worked for Disney instead? In which case it would probably be pretty similar just maybe with stylistic differences that suit the company's image better. If you mean that they "got" it in the broadest sense, in that maybe the vaguest idea of Doug came to them, then sure it would be a very different show because it would have been tweaked and developed by very different people....

That said I can't add much else because I haven't seen Doug in forever, much too long to remember any sort of details

[[not to mention what we consider cartoon network and disney today are p different from what we would consider them when Doug was created ya dig]]

Awww, I remember Doug from when I was a kid! I don't think the differences would be too drastic if he moved from Nick to CN instead of Disney, except for some stylistic differences and musical motifs.

Doug was a Nickelodeon show that was picked up by Disney and lost its voice actors and most of its appeal. Not that it had as much as most of the other classic Nicktoons, but it was still a step up in terms of creativity. Hey Arnold was basically the same thing only with a more generic cartoonish approach.

The older version of CN from the time didn't really have any focused appeal, from what I can remember. It was all over the map in terms of quality. It was certainly better than Disney stuck in tween girl mode, though.

I feel so educated right now

[because wikipediaing it on my own was just too much work obvi]

----

So VGA what you're asking is how after it came out of Nickelodeon's hands, what if it went to CN rather than Disney?

I feel like on average I liked CN cartoons more than Disney's growing up so I probably would have liked it more. Whether or not that would be a good thing for the show is something im not sure of lmao

For the sake of a quick comparison, here's the original Nickelodeon intro:

and the Disney one:

IMO the Disney stuff feels a bit souless and manufactured in execution.

^^ fixd ur link brah

Anyway, I actually don't recognize the second video at all. I must have only watched the original version, and therefore my input on this matter is of minimal importance :{P

granted though this show is probably number 4 on my list of "shows i never gave a chance when i was little that i should try again now." I take it the pre-Disney era is what I should go for?

I couldn't tell you much about the Disney stuff except the original kind of got on my nerves and then I found a bunch of the changes on the Disney stuff to be really pointless and even more irritating. Doug is like the king of awkward.

^ In all likelihood, considering it wasn't really their brain baby.

Also, as a side note, welcome to the forums! Nerds and geeks and I guess normal people too are welcome here. Quick fyi-- in more active forums [read: not this one], it's generally best to keep to replying to topics that have been updated within the month [unless you have something substantial to add, of course], BUT since this forum only has like 3 active topics [strike]and 2 of them are ponies[/strike] and this thread was still on the front page pre-bump, we love all of the input we can get and you're totally fine. Just wanted to give you a heads-up if you happen to be browsing the more happenin' forums, like misc. ;{))

This thread is dangerously lacking in The Beets.
