Wow...

The Iron Man suits can mostly be controlled by artificial intelligence nowadays, and there was even a very strange story arc where a malfunctioning suit became obsessed with Tony Stark.Colonel KR wrote:What's with the army of Iron Men? I wasn't nerdy about Marvel or comic books of any variety until I saw The Avengers, which singlehandedly changed my life, so I need a little fill-in on the details. Has there ever been a comic in which there's a hundred guys in Iron Man suits?

And remember, 'I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
I'm actually quite glad you spoiled all this.Panfan wrote:
This was so much better than Iron Man 2, it's not even funny. Iron Man 2 is definitely the black sheep of the first-wave Avengers films, not that it's a necessarily bad film, just entirely forgettable. I remember distinctly pretty much everything that happened the night I saw Iron Man 2 in theaters. I cannot tell you anything about what happened in the film itself other than the fact that War Machine was there, Mickey Rourke had electric whips, and Scarlett Johansson was wearing really tight clothes. So I was skeptical about Iron Man 3, especially considering the fact that "threequels" generally are bad (can't think of a good "part three" movie to come out in the past 13 years aside from Return of the King, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Dark Knight Rises).
This movie entertained the **** out of me. It's pretty much how I would describe the perfect "summer-starter" movie. It's probably the most I've laughed during an Iron Man movie despite being much darker tonally. The trailers that I saw kinda over-emphasized the LOOK HOW MANY IRON MEN THERE ARE thing that happened at the end of the film, so I was slightly skeptical of that. It was nice to know that the movie instead focused more on Stark outside of the suit.
The only complaint I had was that the movie sometimes got a little too chaotic. I have a friend who described it as "a comedic Dark Knight Rises." I'm inclined to agree because at points the movie seemed to go overboard with the twists and turns.
Everybody's gonna compare this to The Avengers. I mean, if you compare it to The Avengers, it's definitely gonna fall flat, but The Avengers I think is in a class of its own as far as comic book movies go (mostly because it is the most perfect summer Blockbuster action comedy comic book movie ever and if you think otherwise I WILL COME AT YOU) so I'd disagree with the comparison. Comparing it to the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films though, it definitely holds up.
Also Ben Kingsley was ****ing awesome. And post-credit Mark Ruffalo scene was ACE. They should pepper in some Ruffalo in every Marvel movie from now on.
Also at the end it says "Tony Stark will return", which I hope means appearance in other Marvel films as a cameo or in Avengers 2. Because I think the ending of this movie wraps things up too nicely to expand into something other than a trilogy.
