New After Earth trailer shows M. Night has no idea how evolution works

I wouldn't say I was at all optimistic that M. Night Shyamalan would ever make a decent movie again after the Airbender debacle, but I did assume he knew the theory of evolution. I guess not, though.

Seriously, watch this new After Earth TV spot. So... every animal on Earth has evolved specifically to kill humans over the course of a mere 1,000 years... the 1,000 years that no human beings were actually on the planet? Right. Got it. And you say Earth Day didn't save the planet? Someone grab me a monocole, so it can fly off my face in total shock!

In M. Night's defense, though, maybe evolution is far less structured than we thought. I mean, that would explain why Hollywood executives haven't evolved to the point where they stop allowing M. Night Shyamalan to make horrible ****ing movies.

Looks pretty awesome. Besides, I bet the twist is that they're not actually on Earth or something.

I don't know if that was intended to be viewed as accurate; probably more that it had to be done to make the story work. I know I would be willing to use suspension of disbelief for that.

Not sure if that's worse than the time aliens were killed by water guns in Signs. At least they're being upfront about their terrible logic this time.

I saw a headline that asked, "Does This Mean Will Smith is Box Office Poison Now?"
I (alongside every single person commenting afterwards) responded, "No, it just means M. Night Shaymin movies suck."

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

He had a few good movies. He needs to do more like "Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable." I'd definitely be happy just to get sequels to his good ones.

"Cool, dad! Who's directing it?"
"You're not gonna believe this. He's a really big name: M. Night Shyamalan!"
"WHAT? I HATE YOU DAD!"

did anyone SERIOUSLY expect anything more from M. Night Shamalayan?
It's just a cheap attempt at launching Jaden Smith's carrer, and it failed

I will rent it when it comes out. I have to see if it really is that bad. The premise sounds stupid, but only if the justification in story is bad. I mean, remember the movie where the bad guy was evil plants (or something)? And Signs, I thought it was a great comedy. Some of the over serious newscast scenes (pinata...OMG alien!), the dialogue, and the aliens being killed by water, it had to be a parody, and we all just missed Shyamalan's true genius. Who else would make a movie where aliens sort of invade and are supposed to be a credible threat, and yet walk around naked, randomly, attacking farms, and doing vague invasiony things. And did I mention walking around, without any form of suit, on an unknown planet, where 3/4 of the surface is covered in water, where it rains water, where there is water in the air, when your aliens die from exposure to water. It would be little better than a human going naked onto a place like Venus, except we would die faster.
The man who is blind, deaf, and silent lives in peace.
