Looper and The Ninth Gate and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Polanski did an awesome job with TNG, and the score is fantastic. Great film to watch with halloween coming up.

What I've watched over the past few weeks:
Urbanized - A documentary about urban design, which was quite interesting. When I talk about cinematography people always assume I like nature scenes. Nah, muh****er. I like cityscapes. This movie was full of beautiful city shots. Even when they were photographing the decaying slums of India. The content was interesting too.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi - Made me feel like an utter failure at my various crafts since I don't devote half as much time to all of them combined that Jiro puts into making sushi, which he's been doing since he was younger than I am right now.
Gone With the Wind - I still really hate this movie. So, so much. Maybe it's because all of the main characters are awful, unsympathetic people.
Yotsyua Ghost Story - I love Japanese ghost stories. This was a good one. The surreal horror at the end is fantastic, in particular.
Mission Impossible III - Not quite as good as I remembered it, but still an entertaining movie. Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best villain of the series.
Once Upon a Time in the West - Awesome to see this masterpiece in 35mm.
Films of Fury: The Kung Fu Movie Movie - Dunno why I feel the need to watch every documentary on martial arts movies. Perhaps in preparation to make my own that will end up being more comprehensive and accurate than any of the docs I've seen. This one wasn't bad, though the silly animated narration style took a bit to get used to. Overall, it's a decent overview, but I've always felt that the docs I've seen skim over the late 1980's/early 1990's wuxia revival way too quickly.
The Secret Rivals - A solid low budget martial arts movie. While the non-action portions of the movie are no great shakes, they're passable enough to get to the fights, which are pretty damn good, though I wouldn't put them among the very best of the genre. Silver Fox wasn't quite as badass of an enemy as I heard he was, but this is worth recommending for an afternoon where you have nothing much to do and just feel like putting on a kung fu movie.
I ♥ Huckabees - One of my old favorites. Despite being essentially Wikipedia philosophy (not like a 106 minute quasi-mainstream comedy movie can really go much deeper though, if that's your complaint), the way that the structure of the film is bound to the themes it portrays really makes me appreciate this even more. A very tight script with great direction and a fantastic musical score to boot.
Rudy - It's time for a MONTAGE. Hey, I'm not getting along with the other players. MONTAGE. We're best friends because they admire my work ethic!
The Man with the Iron Fists - I'll post my thoughts in the other thread.
The Classic - A few years ago I gave an ridiculously harsh review of this film at the other forum I attend, but in my memory since, it's never really felt as bad as the review I wrote of it makes it seem, even looking back at parts of it fondly. Thus, watching it again, I found it to be quite a pleasant little melodrama. Perhaps I'm less demanding than I was in school, or maybe I've just become more level headed, or maybe I've just grown more accustomed to melodrama. I actually do kind of like this movie now

Street of Shame: This was the last film by one of my all time favorite filmmakers, Kenji Mizoguchi, and also one of his best and most complex works. The final shot of this movie is absolutely haunting, and a fantastic way to end a career.
Press Pause Play: This documentary pretty much sums up what I feel about digital technology: "The great thing about digital technology is that it allows anyone to create art and put it out into the world for all to see. The dark side is that 95% of it is utter ****e and the good stuff is usually lost in the mix." One interviewee suggested that we might be headed into a cultural dark age, and unfortunately, I tend to agree more than I disagree. But there are plenty of positives to come with it.

watched this last. Don't recall any other films in the meantime, although I don't fully trust my memory for these of late.Saria Dragon of the Rain Wilds wrote:Young Frankenstein.

Atonement was a much different, much better movie than I expected it to be. It has, without question, the best long take I've seen in a very long time. I also liked the way the story unfolded. I normally hate movies like this (in terms of setting and tone), but they did a great job with this one.
Shanghai Blues: A classic in every way.
Otaku: I feel like the Otaku problem has only gotten worse since this movie was made in 1994. Interesting to see a young Sion Sono, before he was famous for his films.
Copyright Criminals: Sampling is awesome, and Steve Albini needs to realize that we don't live in the 1970s anymore.
RiP: A Remix Manifesto: Not sure if I agree with everything this guy says, but it's pretty damn good.
My Sassy Girl: Inconsequential buy enjoyable.
