I've been told he's played a Native American before, and well.

Also, just go here and search for the phrase "Native American" and you'll find out why somewhat. Also, huh, Pirates 5 is set for 2014.

Johnny Depp is probably playing Tonto because this version of Tonto is wearing that ridiculous get-up---Depp seems to be Hollywood's go-to guy for putting on transcendentally silly outfits.
