I have Community Season 1 staring at me in my stacking drawers over there, but I have yet to watch it. I'm gonna take a Saturday sometime soon and just knock it out.

I've always liked what I've seen, though. I look forward to watching it all.

as further proof to the fact that this is the best show on tv: the last two episodes.

holy **** these past two episodes were amazing, Remedial Chaos Theory especially. I couldn't stop laughing during the Troy timeline.

Though I really hope that Shirley doesn't become a "Meg Griffin" on this show, and the writers just keep taking shots at her, because that seems to be what's been going on this season and she really hasn't had nearly as many great character moments as the others.

Kind of a weaker episode this week, but a weaker episode of Community is still better than an episode of pretty much anything else.

And the "Kiss from a Rose" scene is one of the funniest moments that the show's had.

community pulled from thursday night schedule for midseason lineup

alright guys nobody panic

edit: I guess this is confirmed as a "short hiatus" and all 22 episodes are airing for this season. However, I don't think there's gonna be a season 4...

To be fair though, the show was doomed to have a short running time from the start. There's really not much you can do with a bunch of people attending a community college cause... let's face it they're all bound to graduate eventually.

so this week's episode was amazing (as the show has been lately) and really makes me hate the hiatus even more. It was a fantastic Glee parody.

Having a really hard time trying to pick my favorite song. I really liked that Troy/Abed rap, though "Baby Boomer Santa" was fantastic as well. And then there was Annie's song which was a great parody of "sexy" Christmas songs like "Santa Baby", while giving the world so many more Allison Brie .gifs

I may be the only person I know who got the Body Snatchers joke.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I subscribed to Hulu Plus a couple days back. 90% of the reason was to catch up on this show, which is now seriously in contention with Parks & Recreation for the supreme title of my favorite show.

^ I'd say that P&R has the better characters, but Community has the better writing.

Both shows are damn near perfect comedies though.

So if anybody missed the last three episodes of the season that all aired on Thursday, you missed a fantastic night of television. The episode almost seemed like it would be a perfect series finale (which I think it was going for since it was iffy if it would be picked up for season 3 while it was being created).

And I think the sense of finality is great because it was announced today that Dan Harmon is not returning as showrunner for season 4. Executive producers/Directors of like half of the shows' episodes The Russo Brothers are also not returning. Executive producers Garrett Donovan and Neil Goldman are gone too. Dino Stamatopoulos (Starburns, as well as writer) isn't coming back. Chris McKenna (who wrote Paradigms of Human Memory and Remedial Chaos Theory, arguably the show's two best episodes) is out.

So this sucks.

COMMUNITY IS BACK ON GUYS

It's Harmonless and that's a really big bummer but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the hell out of the premier episode. I think a lot of people were gonna say that it doesn't feel like Community because that was the mindset going in. This season might not be as brilliant as the first three seasons were, but even without the major writers/producers/directors around it's STILL incredibly enjoyable and it's just fun to hang out with the characters again.

And like, 30 Rock is over now, and The Office is ending later this year. So this and Parks & Rec are all we have now anyway.

You've essentially listed 4 of the 5 shows I actually care about (the other being Modern Family, which looks like it's starting to rebound from a very shaky third season last year, but still isn't as good as it was for the first two seasons, though I'm probably 4-5 episodes behind on that show as well.). Though I'm waaay behind on 30 Rock. Like, seasons behind. I'm happy that The Office is ending with a pretty damn solid season so far, though I kind of miss BJ Novak & Mindy Kaling (both as two of my favorite characters and two of the best staff writers). Parks & Rec looks like it's a sure-fire for a renewal next season, unless there's a huuuuuge drop off in ratings. *knock on wood*

New Community last night was OK, but no great shakes. It felt like it was more just referencing pop culture instead of satirizing it. On the extremely negative side, "Don't ask." "Don't tell." exchange between Troy and Jeff is officially the worst joke in the history of the show. Thankfully that was only like 2 seconds of the 22 minutes (or however long the episode's runtime was), and the rest of the episode was enjoyable enough.

I think the show should still be good enough without Harmon, and looking through the current writing staff, there are still some holdovers who have written great episodes in the past. The only real problem is that Harmon had far more influence on the show than most showrunners do, creating one of the most singular-visioned television shows since the heyday of Aaron Sorkin's hand in The West Wing. I'm pretty new at the concept of showrunners, but I'm starting to see how they can influence a show. For example, one of the reasons The Office has improved this season just might be because Greg Daniels is back as showrunner, which was his claim to fame in the earlier seasons of the show.

On the bright side, it was up 36% in ratings from last season's premier, so it looks like it actually has a shot at a fifth season.

I hope I don't regret saying that in a few months, but one has to wonder how long the series could really go on before becoming even less believable in terms of how long they're taking to get their degrees. Aren't most community colleges only 2 year programs?

^ I'm in the same boat, except I watch How I Met Your Mother instead of Modern Family (I like Modern Family and also New Girl, but I've never actively tried to keep up with them). And I really need to get caught up with 30 Rock and The Office; I'll probably just wait until the last seasons are on Netflix.

And the "don't ask don't tell" joke was indeed cringe-worthy, but I thought the overall episode was on par with a lesser Harmon episode, so I've still got hope. But who am I kidding? This show has Alison Brie in it. I'd watch it if it was the worst thing on TV.
