The episode is up on Nickelodeon's website, CL. :3 They get put on the web on Mondays.

I will admit, I'm really digging this story. :3

I keep wanting to imagine that
Councilman Tarrlok has something to do with Amon,
but at this point I'm really just speculating/wishful(?) thinking.

I did find the
flashback sequence
particularly interesting, though it passed by so quickly, and even I didn't figure out what was going on in that bit, so you bring up an interesting point.

It was nice to see that the
Bei fongs are complete asshats all the time. :)
^ I know. The thing is that I'm waiting to watch it together with my roommate, who is currently unavailable, because that was a thing we did together. RE-watching it with them is just not the same.

I can, however, re-watch all previous episodes, so that can tide me <3

Delicious conspiracy theories. Also, because he's clearly not an awesome dude.

Also, we haven't discussed this yet-
Anyone else suspicious of Asami? Besides the fact that it all played out so strangely, where do you think the Equalists are getting all of those motorcycles? Maybe from SAAAAAATO AUTO-PAAAARTS!!??!!
Hmm...
Hiroshi Sato is an Equalist. Not too surprised, I had been suspecting them. However, Asami seems to be for the benders.

THE CABBAGE SELLING GOES ON. OR NOT. THEY WERE FRAMED.
I really liked that they showed
Lin Bei-Fong using the Seismic Vision technique, or whatever that was called. It's pretty cool that Toph taught that to her.
Note that
A fire-bender killed Mako and Bolin's parents.

A fire-bender (said to be of the Agni-Kai clan) killed Hiroshi Sato's wife.

And a fire-bender apparently killed Amon's parents and scarred his face.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

The Equalists have a point. If you look at most places, benders rule. In Republic City, the ruling council is made of of benders and law is enforced by police that are benders. I presume that there are non-bender police, such as the ones seen in the park, but they seem to be there to stop people from littering. They do not seem effective at protecting people from the bending gangs that run the streets either.

And in the past series, that was also true. Benders tended to rule. This was not always the case, but all those holding real power could bend. And even regular benders, aside from their advantage over others, are favored by society. Nations are divided by who bends what. Everything is about bending.

Yeah ok but electrocuting bystanders and blowing **** up and threatening/kidnapping otherwise innocent benders is not the best way to go about gaining equality

Like, maybe if the Equalists weren't such giant raging douchebags, they would be more sympathetic as a villainous entity. The moral problem presented about benders vs non-benders is a good one, but then they make the non-benders so messed up that you can't possibly root for them.

Although on the other hand it's pretty realistic to have a group that sees itself as oppressed rise only behind an extremely radical leader. It's not unrealistic, but it does make for a pretty black-and-white morality as opposed to grey.

If that makes sense. [/rant]

I have a feeling Republic City's government will not turn out all that nice either. Aside from any implied corruption, to fight the Equalists they may become more extreme as well. Say, making all non bending martial arts illegal, because Equalists use chi blocking. Maybe arresting people even rumored to criticize the government or benders. And all of this would likely come about because of a relatively weak council led by Tarrlok. Bei Fong and Tenzin would object, but they would be unable to legally do anything to stop it.

As Tenzin & Katara should be able to point out (& Korra should be able to understand if she ever figures out how to commune with Aang), Amon himself IS a bender (a spiritbender), & the Avatar need not fear him (the Avatar spirit is unbendable).

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Amon probably knows something important. If he waits until Korra can go into the Avatar state, then kills her....

Assuming Amon really is spirit-bending. All will be revealed, eventually..

IN LIGHT OF RECENT CHANGES

ahem. As you can see in the rest of this thread, the spoiler tags aren't functioning correctly as of right now because Shane probably has more important **** to fix at the moment.

So, I would just like to announce that you are free to discuss the new episode
, but EVERY POST BENEATH THIS ONE AS OF TOMORROW WILL PROBABLY HAVE KORRA SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN NEW EPISODE AS OF JUNE SECOND DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS POINT.

I want everyone who has seen it to be able to discuss it freely, but I also want to provide a marker so that people [like me] who won't have seen it will know at what point in this thread the spoilers for this new episode will commence.

and if the spoiler tags are fixed by tomorrow then this post is completely pointless! hooray.

iluguys peace<33

I'm hoping the new spoiler tags will be that new mini-window thing that you can click and it pops out.

Also I should probably watch a bit more than just the last five minutes of some episode I randomly saw

Also I rule

INCOMING SPOILER

SERIOUSLY IT'S GONNA BE BAD

IT'S GONNA

TOTALLLY

SPOIL EVARYTHANG

________________
So, Asami is bothered by Korra and Mako's chumminess. And Tarlokk is totally a bloodbender, as was Yakone. So I guess Yakone isn't the firebender that killed all of those people's parents, because you most likely must be a water-bender to bloodbend, as shown in, well, the show. I hope Korra's alright. :(
Grrrrreat episode.

I called it with regard to what the government and Tarrlok did. It was more extreme than what I thought even.

Now this is getting more and more confusing. More of that same vision. Does it really have anything to do with Amon? This time, it was seen with Tarrlok. And it definitely has some connection to that unusual bloodbending. I still do not think that Tarrlok is with Amon. If anything, he is likely on the other extreme, a bending supremacist. That Yakone may have been as well.

Of course, maybe the whole thing is actually just the front of some huge conspiracy. Step one involves starting a civil war based on benders vs. normals.
