Sisterhooves Social was my favorite. So much cute neurotic marshmallow ponies and lessons about friendships and ehh...how did Spike just end up at the Carousel Boutique like that.
And Rarity got dirty for her little sister aw how sweet and oh god I just. ;___;
There be pheasants and penguins and booberry trees between the greenest of skies and the whitest of seas

And swag.
In my mind, the natural extension to the story is that Rainbow Dash joins the Mare Do Well group, and the Mare Do Well becomes an even more legendarily capable superhero. Can cast super magic, talk with animals, predict the future, super-speed-strut, stronger than a speeding carriage. And, um, good fashion sense.
I don't think that the moral was "let's upstage our friend", the moral is that people don't like a braggart. If future me ends up being an arrogant jerk, I'd hope my future friends were there to take future me down a peg.Dizzy wrote:Yeah, the thing that bugged me about MDW was, if you're going to have a moral-centric show, the lesson should have actual morality behind it, as opposed to 'lol lets upstage our friend'.

^^If nobody likes a braggart, then the Mare-Do-Wells shouldn't have bragged about themselves in Sugarcube Corner. The whole thing felt more like retribution than actual lesson-teaching to me.
^Admittedly, when I first started watching it, I hadn't really sat through anything quite so... diabetic in several years, so it felt a bit weird at first. You adjust, though.

When I watched the first episode (both parts) out of morbid curiosity, I honestly couldn't tell if I liked it or not. I put it off for a while before watching another episode, but once I started to get to know the characters and such, it started to grow on me.1-up Salesman wrote:So... Did the show not take any taking used-to at all when you first started watching?
Although it took me until a few months ago to be more "open" about being a fan. When I first started watching, I would watch it on my iPod late at night and delete my history afterwards. >_>
