Steampunk.

I bring it up because Legend of Korra is pretty much a steampunk'd Last Airbender world, and so far it is badass and wonderful.
But also because, in my humble opinion, any combination of giant robots with an older, cool, and perhaps historic setting is very much a go.
Actually giant robots with anything are more than welcome in my mind but somehow the contrast with an older setting just makes said giant robots even better than they would otherwise be.
Also, goggles.

I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you.

^^ shut up what if I just wanted an excuse to talk about Korra and giant robots in the same thread
IS THAT SUCH A CRIME
-creycrey-
No but srsly, I like steampunk as a general style, and Korra- though not really steampunk in itself- made me think of the style due to its modernifying the less modernified Last Airbender's setting. Granted TLA had tanks and flying metal ships and stuff but I dunno.
Maybe I just want to talk about Korra in every thread ever.
^^^^no, but say the words "giant" and "robot" and I am so there

well, it's more of a strict timeline of progression similar to how ours is although kind of slower i guess.
i mean the fire nation is more industrialized so the metal tanks and steam ships make more sense (especially since it's fueled by the firebending some too).
the cars and that are probably a natural progression from the technology present in aang's era, too.
i mean i have a general stigma towards the word 'steampunk' anymore just because it's so misused all over the place
argh why am i writing about this instead of my paper

I absolutely love the design and concept of steampunk, and I've seen quite a bit of great steampunk art and cosplay and such, but funnily enough I've never really seen/read/played anything in the steampunk genre. Though I do plan on watching Korra, if you want to call that steampunk.
I'll give Steamboy, Metropolis, and Radiant Historia a try. Any other recommendations?
