What movies remind you of your childhood?

What movies do you watch now that remind you of your childhood? For me its the first 3 Indiana Jones movies. When i watch them i am almost instantly hit by a wave of nostalgia. Those and Predator (i ain't got time to bleed!), Karate Kid as well as Memphis Belle (dont laugh, it was the first film i ever took a date to, i was 11!)

Whats yours?

Most Don Bluth and Disney films pre-1996.

I actually looked up one film I remembered from my childhood (The Princess and the Goblin) and watched it recently. Some stuff just doesn't hold up.

There really aren't any movies that drown me in nostalgia the way some games do. The only ones that come close are, like Val, some Disney movies.

Most of all Lady and the Tramp.

I know I saw The Lion King as a child, because I remember role-playing with a friend of mine when I was young. I was Scar, and I threw him off the bunk bed. I got in trouble, but it's hilarious in hindsight.

Oh, well there are quite a few that I watched when I was a kid that have stuck with me. TMNT 1&2, Super Mario Bros. The Movie, Double Dragon, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, The Secret of Nimh, Disney's Robin Hood, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Spaceballs, Monty Python: The Holy Grail, the Wizard - to name a few.

Ironically, though, I think the Iron Giant reminds me most of my childhood, because it is like the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes in the way that it captures what it is to be a young boy with an overactive imagination.

I just rewatched both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes back last week. But I imagine Return of the Jedi would probably remind me of childhood even more than the other two.

I can't think of any other movies I liked as a kid that I still like now. Maybe I'd still like Alice in Wonderland.

'Princess Bride', 'Ghostbusters', and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' were definitely my faves as a kid.

'Robin Hood' was my favourite Disney movie. It still is, actually.

As far as actual nostalgia goes, like, movies that actually take me back, John Wayne movies are at the top. My mom had 'em all on tape, so some of my earliest movie memories are of sitting next to Ma on the couch, watching 'Big Jake' or 'Rio Bravo' or 'Angel and the Badman' or 'Horse Soldiers' or whatever.
