Parks and Recreation

So how many people on VGF have watched this show?

I gotta say, this show is phenomenal. Every character is likeable and funny and the storylines are great. I love the city of Pawnee.

Also, Ron Swanson is the best character currently on TV.

My suggestion to anyone who hasn't watched it yet: Skip the first season. It starts off trying to be The Office...it doesn't really get its identity until Season 2, then it just takes off. Might as well just start right at the good part--and they fill you in on the past story (and since S1 is only...8 episodes, you get filled in pretty quickly).

Parks & Recreation is the single greatest thing that has ever aired on television. Except maybe a few movies playing on some channel somewhere.

I totally <3 April tonight. Her responses to Ann's questions were hilarious.

I love this show although I was only able to watch this for like a couple of episodes since I'm really busy with school and stuff.

Hey guys, guys, guys... so a bunch of NBC's comedies are being given shortened seasons, and Parks looked like it was in danger of cancellation, but guess what?

FULL 22-EPISODE FIFTH SEASON, TRICK!

Parks and Recs is the ****. Ron Swanson is truly one of the greatest fictional characters ever committed to any medium.

:(

Rob Lowe was supposed to be a temporary presence anyway, only appearing in the last two episodes of season two and the first six of season three, but he decided to stay on so they could do more with his character.

Mm... as much as I love Rashida Jones, Ann's main function has just been to be Leslie's best friend, and hasn't had that many great plots on her own, so with Ben still around her absence might not be that devastating. Minus not being able to get my weekly Rasida Jones fix.

Well, we still have Aubrey Plaza who plays April who is the best character on television since Daria and Jane from Daria and is pretty much just as attractive as Rashida Jones anyway.

Donald Glover leaving Community will be a bigger loss of presence on a show... except that show's already gone so far downhill that it probably doesn't really matter that much anyway, even with Harmon back. Parks & Rec is still pretty good and, while it's probably winding down in terms of how long the show will go on (I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last season, especially if any of the new Thursday night shows will be a hit), it will probably be able to weather the loss of Rob and Rashida pretty well for however long it lasts.

^ I'm pretty sure that this is Parks & Rec's last season as well. And I'm thinking NBC will have at least one hit in their new Thursday night shows. The Michael J. Fox Show seems promising at least.

^ In the case of both Parks and Community, their renewals were basically to get them both to around 100 episodes to make them more attractive for syndication. I believe NBC actually has syndication rights for both shows, which isn't always the case, if my memories of my TV class are correct.

I need to watch this show. I didn't much like the first few episodes, so I mostly quit watching, but I've enjoyed the random episodes I've caught out of order.

^ The first season is just a thing that kind of exists. Second season is where it turns into a really good show.

one of the best final seasons ever. definitely better overall than the office's final season, though i did cry a lot more during the office's final episode. mostly because that felt like an ending, whereas parks and rec ends on a more "this is just the beginning for these lovable turds" vibe.
