Ugh, yeah, some of the unofficial-turned-official terms like the "shinespark" are kind of maddening. I just call it the speed booster dash/jump, usually.
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

"Bomb jump" is pretty straightforward, though; you jump on bombs.

I knew about Shinesparking, Bomb Jumping, and the Crystal Flash (though I never knew how to do it). Never heard of Mockball or Arm Pump.

Oh, Shoemi.
^ Mockballing lets you roll in Morph Ball mode at a running speed by dashing, jumping, tapping down once in midair, then down again and immediately holding left/right just before landing, holding the dash button the entire time. Arm pumping, which seems to be only possible in the PAL version, has you mash a diagonal shot button while dashing to increase your running speed by one pixel if the Mockball is not an option. Both are known speedrunning techniques.
tl;dr: You will never need to use them. Honestly.
