Just finished 8 Mile.

Wasn't disappointed. Not the most intelligent thing I've ever watched, but it kept me entertained.

SD and I just watched Surrogates, the Princess & the Frog, and Terminator: Salvation all in a row last night. Good stuff, none of them was bad. Surrogates was probably the worst of the lot, which was actually decent with some unforeseeable plot twists. It didn't have the comedic charm of P&tF or the amazing budget of Terminator, though.

Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance
The first of the New Movie Editions was just kind of a silly retread of Episodes 1-6 of the show, but this movie takes it somewhere else completely, referencing parts of the series but overall being mostly a new story. It rocks, period.

I recently watched Exit through the Gift Shop a movie about Street Art and get to see the start of a Street Artist. Kind of.

Just watched Young Frankenstein again last night. Love that film. Made much better by having Gene Wilder co-writing for it. Brooks is funny, but he doesn't usually make stuff this solid.

Just endured an hour and a half of boredom, courtesy of Holes (not my idea; blame the female). The last few minutes were okay as the story was all tied together, but I predicted ninety percent of it.



Then I watched Taken with Liam Neeson.

Oh yeah. Good movie.

This is what I was told while watching it, actually.

Tell me, would you recommend reading it even though I have already seen the movie? Because I would only read it if there were a significant amount of details left out of the movie that warrant reading the book.

I liked the ending; excellently done, and ties everything together nicely. But the rest of the film lacked any real suspense, which is the key factor in a mystery movie.


In hindsight, the subject matter of the movie would lend itself well to a book format. Unfortunately, you previous opinion was correct - there is little point in reading a mystery that I already have witnessed the conclusion of.



Care to suggest any other good mysteries? (whether book or film)

I haven't read very many stand-alone books recently and books I have read weren't mysteries. Also the films I have been watching lately are adaptations that are also not mysteries so vOv
