How? You take advantage of weaknesses in character design exactly the same way you do with all other characters, and I gave him an incredibly obvious vulnerability.

^^You will likely not face the golem, as giant metal man versus giant rock man would be rather one-dimensional. Besides, the golem has drawn too many complaints already.

^See? Creativity. Possible with a golem. :)

At any rate, I will use my conclusion post of this battle to prove my point beyond refutation.

Now that Galefore has more clearly explained the point of this tournament, however, you may rest assured my next fight will be decidedly bloodier.

Hey, man, I'm not trying to argue here. It's just something that me and Stu apparently subconsciously agreed on (I don't read the other judge's posts until after I've judged, so damn if I knew that we had both said that.) Like I said, I think it could be done, but not everyone is creative enough to realize this. Wasn't saying it was your fault. :p

My thinking went along the lines of putting myself in Tazy's shoes and thinking about attacks I would've done. Sure there are plenty really, enough to fill this tourney a bunch of times, it's just that with a bag of flesh and blood there's so much you can do. Even with robots, once you crack the hard outer shell there are lots of messy goodies inside...

At any rate I didn't mark you down on it and if you use that character again it wouldn't effect your future scores. It was just an opinion I thought was worth sharing.

My apologies for the overreaction. I just saw the term 'overpowered' and got a little miffed because, when I selected that character, I knew I was taking a severe risk. It is a horribly weak and limited one-dimensional character.

What if he went invisible?
What if he casts a time stop spell of any kind?
What if he summoned his own golems?
What if he casts feather and makes my golem weigh nothing?
What if he unleashes diamond eating termites?
What if he causes a massive chasm to swallow the stone straight to the depths of hell?

Any one of these and dozens of others would be a potential game-ender against the golem, so the concept of a big rock character being unfair just hit a nerve. [/rant]

Although, I WAS hoping he would shatter the stone and unleash the demons inside... :)

What are you supposed to do about that even if you aren't a golem? How can you do anything if you're time-frozen?

Or aged by seviral decades, slowed to the pace of malassis in winter, sped up enough to be absorbed by the speed force, or any number of time baised attacks. I'm sure that if you look at it the right way you could turn a few of these to your own advantege.

^^Gee, I dunno, freeze them first? Use your head. There are a lot of ways to counter virtually anything as long as you have a flexible character.

Realistically, I could get around a time stop fairly easily even with a golem. Try freezing me in our next fight. :p

I think this just suggests Traveler needs to fight me at some point. I reckon with my constant use of disco balls, time travel and radioactive fire I could demonstrate that his characters are not overpowered. :p

^Epic win

Would this be an appropriate time to confess my secret desire to face you in the final round?

Based on the insanity of your posts, it would make for a memorable match. If either you or I get knocked out before then, I have a 1-on-1 with your name on it.

Sorry, dudes. Got all but two judgments done and then had to go to College for the first day, then got a call telling me I needed to come help load up our sound system for a gig we had agreed to do with no rehearsal at all. The gig lasted from 6 until about 11, and loading/setup itself was from 2 to 5, so there was literally no time that I was home until 12 AM. Then, I slept because I had gotten a collective 7 hours of sleep the previous two nights and I was sore as hell. So worry not. Final two judgments are on the way within a very, very short timeframe (in other words today).

Maybe next tournament I should judge. I have more time than I know what to do with.

But only after I get to fight Traveller some time.

^^Don't sweat it, dude. I'm not worried to much about it, I just get bored and post here.

And something tells me the other competitors probably aren't worried, as they haven't spoken a word about it. :p

I am judging the last battle right now. I just finished Zaidon/Vapor, which was my favorite so far. It's definitely "Hall of Fame" worthy.

EDIT: Alright, here it is. Last few judgments. Winners, you know who you are... As I concoct the topic for the next round and the official "final results", you may...

FINISH HIM

Vapor: Awesome character, and I like the telepathy idea. Is it weird, though, that I actually like the speech pattern Zaidon gave him better? Like, the line where he goes “I will kill you in my anger” is so perfectly robotic and monochrome that I actually grinned while reading it. I like that you were very creative and versatile with your arsenal of attacks, and you did a lot of damage. You also balanced out the damage you did rather well, so that you weren't overpowering his smaller and more vulnerable character. I was disappointed that this battle lacked gore, since Gear is a robot and Zaidon has no blood, but the way this was written more than made up for it and there were plenty of nicely written bits of damage in there. Good writing and good style, and the fighting itself was quite impressive.
7.9

Zaidon: Hooooly crap you are doin' it right. Seriously. That last post is Red Lions gold, and honestly the closest thing to what I like to see in this tournament all round. It was cringe-worthy, nasty stuff, and I love it. You did a lot of great damage to both yourself and to Gear, and your style is fluid without being overwrought or boring. Easily my favorite performance of the round. And like I said earlier, the stuff you wrote for Gear was almost better than the stuff you wrote for Zaidon himself... You were creative on both fronts, both offensive and defensive, and I commend you for that. Wonderful battle, bro.
9.0
-----------------------------
Repster: This was even better than your battle with Metal Man. Good use of creative attacks, definitely more violent, and your opponent was damaged to hell and back. Aidan was delightfully assholish in this particular match, and I loved how he handled Inferno's polar-opposite regal persona. Good job all around.
8.5

Inferno: Damage wise, you did a pretty good job. You weren't afraid to utilize the saiyan powers you have at your disposal, and in the end you did a good amount of damage to Aidan (whose heart was completely out of commission at one point.) That said, Rep had a ton of more creative attacks and did a better job representing damage.
7.0
--------------------------------
VGFian: You've come a long way since I got you into this whole thing. Great action, cool character, and there's a nicely gorey death scene in the second post. Nice fakeout character (in the grand tradition of the veterans who loved to use that very same trick as often as possible) and good, clear writing. Loved the balance of damage and the amount of physical harm you inflicted upon Ramses.
8.0

X-3: Good stuff. Could have used more detail, but your attacks were clear and concise and the inclusion of a zombie as your character was pretty cool. I liked that you tried to be “gorey” in your attacks using the ink as a substitute for blood, and your willingness to sacrifice a lot of your character's body was welcome too. Giving this to VGFian for doing a bit more damage and for having more detail in his posts, but definitely a great performance.

His foe stood there, barely alive after having been hit by couches, time fields, and the other murderous attacks of Metal Man. The goliath roared once more, shaking the ruined city to the core.

"You thought you could beat me? Haaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha! YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN ANOTHER DUST PARTICLE COMPARED TO ME!"

The hulking transformer dramatically pointed his right hand at the stunned battler, as horrible light coalesced at the point of the hand. Suddenly the lights seemed to go out, with all the light in the area focusing on the one hand.

"I've just been warming up... but now I'm here to show you what I can really do! Quantuuuum.... OBLIVATOR!"

An event horizon-like flash of light briefly blinded Aidan; then, the right hand fired an immense beam of light. Much to his surprise, it did not instantly annihilate him; instead, it flew through him, giving his very soul a punch to the gut.

As he staggered to his knees, the buildings around him began to collapse. Metal Man rose from the crater he had been standing in, glowing demonically. The buildings, now seemingly sentient, ripped free from their foundations and surrounded Metal Man like an immense hurricane; the eye of that hurricane being Metal Man.

Aidan was lifted up into the air with Metal Man and the building hurricane. The two floated up, up, and away, until the ground was a speck, and they were in outer space. As the lack of oxygen starved Aidan's nonexistent lungs, and the sun roasted from behind, Metal Man hovered briefly at the center of the hurricane.

"You said I was just metal to forge... but you knew nothing! I am not simply a bum made of steel! I am Metal Man... scourge of Time Cops and presumptious blacksmiths everywhere! Not even the infamous Vampire, Joker, could stop me! And now, you join him... by being ground into pieces!"

As the last bits of oxygen with which to convey his wicked thoughts vanished, Metal Man finally snapped his right hand. A hideous grinding noise could be heard before, suddenly, all sound was gone entirely. All that was left...

...Was Aidan's eyes seeing a drill-shaped mass of concrete, jagged rebar, and glass slam into his body.

A further explosion occurred behind the drilling death, and the added pieces of Metal Man's body flew off in turn, stabbing into Aidan's hideously lacerated body until he was like a dusty, heavily sanded Voodoo doll. Now before Aidan was Metal Man--the true Metal Man, with his time device.

This man, in his early space-explorer-like solid metal armor, silently floated up to the mortally grinded blacksmith... ...and flicked him with but a single finger.

...Sending the Blacksmith on a terminal orbit to the sun.

The Metal Man made a crazy grin as his foe floated into oblivion... as he tapped his visor's UI and spoke to himself... for no reason.

"Ah... but why did I send him into the sun?"

He pressed a button, recording this into his log.

"So that he, too, could be reforged... and perhaps, fight me again."

The man then cooly tapped his time device, warping on to his next assignment and out of that desolate universe.
