Apparently a film adaptation on this graphic novel has been in development hell ever since it was published in 1986.

Then of course there's Alan Moore, who has become so disgruntled with film adaptations of his comics (even good ones like V for Vendetta) that he now refuses to be credited.

At least the characters looks the same.

If they don't gut it like V For Vendetta was gutted, this will be awesome.
I doubt anyone's that brave, though.

Thought, that I would BUMP this topic.

This film is probably the first big film of the year, and it's also the currently the most troubled film of the year.

Here is an open letter from one of the producer's about said troubles.

Having seen more production stuff, this looks like a major step-up from Snyder's last graphic novel adaptation, 300. The consensus among people who've read the graphic novel, however, is that it will have to be like 9 hours long to fit in everything necessary.

Personally, I'm not too picky about adaptations deviating from their source. An adaptation is a separate work from its source.

Saw the trailer and wasn't impressed. However, I'm now reading the comic for the first time and I'm now getting very excited for it.

honestly reading that article renewed my hope for this movie since they were apparently making it 3 hours long with an hour and a half of bonus content which is more then enough to make into a adaptation not worthy of the title "a complete ****ing butchery of the plot".

I imagine alot of the flashbacks will be the first things cut out though *sigh*

The latest news on the legal troubles is that Warner is probably going to give in and settle with Fox, so they can release the film on time.

Read about it at AICN

^ And thats exactly what they did. Fox gets a 10-15% share of total worldwide sales :headbang:

Which leaves its original arrival date of March 6th (my birthday) still intact.

Just over a week until the film comes out.

I already pre-ordered my IMAX tickets. Sadly, because I had to sync schedules with my cousin, who's coming with me (along with an entourage of 4 other people), I won't be seeing the film until the 10th, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Depending on what else is playing, I might see it over Spring break. I can't afford to miss the Oshima series going on at the Cinematheque for this.

Maybe I'll see it. I didn't think Watchmen was that interesting, even though it was actually kind of cool to have superheroes who didn't have superpowers instead of just one or two like Batman who just compensates for having a bat-everything.

...oh wait a sec...*looks at Manhattan*
