^Oh, man, if I thought it could've had a Woo-shootout, I would've been in line for the first showing! As is, I might see it eventually.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I purchased Pineapple Express and The Wackness and watched them back-to-back.

The Platform - 5/5

Wow... I wasn't quite as impressed with Jia Zhangke's Still Life as 90% of Europe was, but this earlier work of his really did it for me.

Hollywood Hong Kong - 4/5

Fruit Chan makes the weirdest movies... Zhou Xun is excellent as always, but why dub her voice into Cantonese? I mean, her character is from the mainland, so it would make sense to have her speaking bad Cantonese throughout the movie.

Prom Night (the one from last year). Awful film (yes I do dislike movies sometimes).

A Night at the Opera (1935)
8/10
Not as good as Duck Soup, had quite a few boring parts, but still hilarious.

Forgot to say it way back when, but Gran Torino was awesome.

However, the most recent one was like part of Ocean's Thirteen again. I thought it was good. (Better than Twelve, at least)

City of Violence - 3/5
The cinematography, editing, and music were all great, and the fights scenes were very well executed and entertaining. But it tried to hard to get me to care about a plot that involved characters who were all indistinct.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

I thought it was pretty decent once the Die Hard spoofing started.

Actually the film is just called Pitch Black and would've been a stand-alone film if they didn't decide to spin the Riddick character into his own film (as such, they slapped the Chronicles of Riddick title on recent DVDs).

Underworld : Rise of the Lycans - 10 out of 10 :headbang:

Ip Man : Story of the Wing Chung Master I give it a 100 out of 10 (Best Martial Arts Film I have seen in a long time. It reminds me of everything that is right about Iron Monkey and Fist of Legend)

All About Lily Chou Chou - 5/5

I'm going a bit against the grain here. This is a film (or digital video, to be more precise) that has sharply divided critics, and I wish it was still new, because I'd have the perfect response to those who gave it negative reviews. All About Lily Chou Chou is not a great movie because it is socially critical; it's a great movie because it criticizes society in a stylishly challenging and often moving way, nearly driving me to tears in it's final quarter.

I've heard an argument that the film "has no plot," or "is hard to follow." First of all, this is an invalid argument in this day in age. Didn't we, as a society, decide that a film can portray more than simply getting from point A to point B years ago? It gives me dire hopes about the future of film criticism to think that some of the most respected film critics still fail to see that. Are these not the same critics who praised Pulp Fiction, Chungking Express, and Mullholland Dr.?

Second of all, the film is not very difficult to follow, unless you think that all Asian people look and act alike. The characters are all distinct and lifelike, and make the film even more unflinchingly harrowing. In the most powerful moment of the film, no spoilers, we see the most unlikable character let out a giant scream - and we feel his pain, despite the atrocities he has committed earlier in the film. This is just one example of how All About Lily Chou Chou is a modern masterpiece.

Doctor Who (the 1996 TV movie)

Mediocre film, but it's a shame Paul McGann never did another screen performance in the role.
