"Heroes": Is it worth my time?

#1

Post by Kargath » Wed Jan 31, 2007 6:19 pm

Australia tends to get delayed releases of shows due to our ratings period starting about 3months after the US. "Heroes" has just started here, I've heard that it's pretty popular, but when I watched the first episode it was a bit 'meh'. What I wanted to ask you US people is does it get better from here?

I take it the quotations are a direct reference to Bowie's classic? I've nver heard of the show, btw.

It gets better, but that's just my opinion. Heroes may just not be something you'd like at all.

I've never watched it, but my parents are obsessed with it.

But I do find it rather stupid that the actor, who speaks English like a native speaker (I think he was actually born in Japan, I saw an interview with him on Craig Ferguson), has to fake a stereotypical Japanese-E/S/L accent. Not that it really has that much to do with the quality of the show.

^^Then you probably wouldn't like UHF, Gung Ho, or Sixteen Candles.

And remember, "I'm-a Gedde, number one!"

I like it (even though I didn't start watching until the 8th episode)

Oh, and I think the character of Hiro becomes less geeky over time (as shown in an episode featuring a future version)

The first season is pretty good television overall, although the general sentiment among viewers and critics is that 1) the 1st season finale was a letdown and 2) the 2nd season was a fiasco. Go watch Lost instead.

The create admitted this fact and things are expected to improve in Season 3

I thought the season 1 finale was pretty good, up until I found out that the two sh*ttiest characters had survived, despite all my fervent wishes to the contrary.
Spoiler.
Yes, I'm talking about the Petrellis.

^
^ Yeah I'm aware they admitted it, that still doesn't change the fact. Also, producers are always going to say that things will "improve"...I mean I'm going to watch season 3, all I'm saying is we'll have to wait and see. I still think Lost is better than Heroes on its worst day (I'm looking at you, Stranger in a Strange Land (Lost) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Spoiler.
I agree, Boo.

Worth your time, but you better watch all the first episodes beforehand.

Heroes IMO has Lost beat hands down !! But then again I am a cheeba puffing mad man sooooo

I got lost watching lost about two seasons ago...I have no idea what the hell is going on now...
Spoiler.
what the hell was up with the island disappearing ??
Sensimillia aside though, I really enjoy the writing on Heroes and the chracter development. I'm a fan of both seasons so far although the second season suffered due to the writers strike hampering their production and forcing them to rush a few story lines together. Either way I'm pretty excited for the third season to start because its supposed to focuse on the villans of the show :headbang:

Also Kristen Bell chucking lightening helps me to enjoy the show that much more.

How about a Magic Trick?? I'm going to make this pencil dissapear !

The first season spends a lot of time introducing characters, usually a couple new ones each episode, so it is a slower show compared to some others. As more characters are added it gets better and better. The 3rd season airing right now is really good.

3rd Season has been crazy to me so far. It started off with a bang but has calmed down a little. I feel these episodes are still leading up to something big.

The season started a little bit crazy. I'm happy they've stopped going into the future as much.
Spoiler.
I also ask, what the hell happened to Micah and his cousin (her name escapes me at the moment). Micah helped Tracy learn about Nikki/Jessica but that's all he's done.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

Monica had some scenes filmed for the third season, but they were cut out.
