Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Have you played Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap?
Which is your favourite animal form?
What are your favourite weapons?

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is a remake of the original Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, with gameplay reverse engineered from the original Master System code, featuring brand new hand-drawn graphics and musical rearrangements. Set immediately after the events of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, players control an adventurer who, upon defeating the Mecha Dragon, has become afflicted with a curse turning them into a Lizard-Man. The player must journey across the world and defeat all the other dragons in the land in order to return to their human form. As in the original game, players explore various lands, defeating enemies to earn items, such as arrows and fireballs, and money which can be used to purchase new weapons and armor. Over the course of the game, the player gains new animal forms, each with new abilities allowing for additional exploration. These include Lizard-Man, who can spit fire, Mouse-Man, who can cling onto checkerboard-patterned blocks, Piranha-Man, who can swim underwater, Lion-Man, who can perform a vertical slash attack, and Hawk-Man, who can fly through the air.

This game has that old school difficulty, it's too much for me. I still like it though.

Oh yeah, I've played through this! It's pretty neat, even if the level design is a tad plain at some points. I do like the option to switch between new graphics and music to old graphics and music.

^That's always a neat feature. It's been incorporated into most of the old LucasArts adventure games that've been rereleased over the years.

But what is the secret of his power?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

...yeah. Jack Black's kooky novelty band Tenacious D made a really really good pretty song called 'Wonder Boy' like twenty years back.
Spoiler.

My favorite animal form is the Hawk-Man for flying around, and I love the Thunder Saber for its power, what about you?

The game is not bad but what other games do you play? I've never played Fortnite since. In addition, I came across StealthCore where I found several hacks for this game and much more, so now I also get over the hardest levels.

That sounds pretty fun, I love when games let you fly around. You'd think it'd be a more common ability in video games but it's actually pretty rare. Mario 3 and World let you do it, Sonic games where you can play as Tails generally let you do it (not Sonic 2 for some reason). Can't think of many others.

Gaming has changed so much over the years, and I think a big part of it is how developers balance creativity with the business side of things. Some classic games had a level of depth and uniqueness that feels rare today, but at the same time, modern technology allows for some truly mind-blowing experiences.

I mostly agree, but the potential with modern technology is often wasted in the AAA space, examples include Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Concord, and Spider-Man 2, all made to appeal to the mythical so-called "modern audience". There's definitely some truly impressive stuff like Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade, and seemingly Space Marine 2 (haven't tried that one yet, looks good, and I've heard mostly good stuff), but they're much fewer and farther between in recent years.

What I especially agree on is the uniqueness of older games, even new games that are good still feel overpolished and samey. Pick up a handful of PS1 games and they'll all have their own individual quirks that lend them an identity, even if there's a bit of clunkiness there. That's still preferable to me than the deja vu you feel every time you play a 3rd person action game, no matter how technically impressive it may be.
