The game follows the protagonist, as he helps Professor Mirror and his associates to uncover the secrets of the Lental region, which is famous for its phenomenon of luminescent Pokémon. Researching five legendary species protecting the islands, they find out that they are linked to a local legend. 2000 years ago, they protected the island from a meteor strike under the guidance of Xerneas, who gave them their powers.

I haven't yet but I will. I will probably still prefer the original N64 game because the newer Pokemon don't interest me as much, but I'm sure I'll like it regardless.

I'd totally get it if I had a Switch.

I don't care that I wouldn't know any of the new Pokemon---------I didn't know any of the Pokemon when I played the first 'Pokemon Snap', either, because I hadn't played RBY or watched any of the show yet. It just seemed like a rad idea for a game.

That was your introductory game to the franchise? That's pretty cool, good way of looking at it too. Guess I'm just cranky and jaded.

Back when I first played the original SSB, I laughed myself entirely stupid the first time I heard the announcer say 'JIGGLYPUFF!' I had no idea that was her name---------------Game Informer referred to her by her Japanese name ('Purin') in their preview.

That sort of reminds me of how all us kids didn't know Marill's name so we referred to it as Pikablu. When we learned its real name it just sounded ridiculous lol

Speaking of introductions to series and characters and SSB that was where I first learned of Samus. Before that I was just calling her Metroid.

...you know, the weird thing to me is, I looked up 'Purin' just to double-check my facts, and 'purin' is Jigglypuff's Japanese name, yes, but it's also the Japanese word for, like, a flan, or a custard caramel creme or something (the word is literally a mangling of the English word 'pudding'). And now I'm kind of weirded out.

Like, in RBY, Jigglypuff was the Balloon pokemon in the 'Dex. There is nothing about her that makes me go 'oh, a sweet dessert to be eaten. That scans'. (Maybe it's like an endearment? I call the kids 'sweetie' and 'honey bunny' all the time. I guess I don't know, there isn't anything technically wrong with it.)

I figured 'purin' was just the Japanese word for 'balloon' or something, or just a nonsense word, you know?

...ahahaaa. Can you imagine if there were a mode where you'd earn extra points if you got upskirts of, like, Gardevoir and Jynx and all? 'Pokemon Paparazzi'.

I can guarantee it'd have sold much, much better, for what that's worth.

I spent an extra twenny bux on the mod that gives me a shotgun so I can shoot Garbodor or Klefki or Mr Mime right in the face if they jump out at me.

...I'd love it if these games had Jessie, James and Meowth in. I wouldn't even care if they didn't feature in the gameplay, just stick 'em in, why not. Hell, put Ash and Misty and Brock in, too. "We're here to steal and publish your pictures of Pokemon because we're evil!", and then Ash goes "Oh no you don't, Team Rocket!", and meanwhile Todd Snap is all, "hey, spread the pictures far and wide. I'm supported by a research institute, I'm all for the free dissemination of information, plus I already watermarked all the photos."

I really love the music from the first 'Pokemon Snap'. Man, "Rainbow Cloud" and "Beach" and even "Tunnel" are enchanting, but the one to write home about is "Valley". That's real good music.

I don't remember the original really well. I beat it over a rental period. I did like it, though.

Pokemon Snap N64 is amazing, the only issue is how short it is, but what's there is really fun and addictive. I don't think I ever caught snapped Mew though, maybe some day I'll do that.
