Almost everybody has a place in at least one where they've gotten stuck for a long time, died multiple times, or forgot to save for a good while and lost an hour or more of play time to a boss you weren't expecting to be so tough. Here are a couple of mine...

1. The Vargus boss fight, FF6: Easy for most people, but I spent a month trying to figure out what to do to kill him, and then another month totally lost on the concept of when to do the D-pad motions on Sabin's blitz. Now I can do it in my sleep...

2. Garai boss fight, Chrono Cross: It took me at least four tries to beat him. I hate Willbreaker...

3. Final Fantasy 9: I hadn't saved in four hours and I had completely forgotten to right when I got the Blue Narciss, so I sailed out, landed on the first patch of land I found, and got killed by a Grand Dragon. I never forgot to save again.

What are some of yours?

I played FF4 a long time ago, but there was a boss fight with an evil wall that kept kicking my butt. I fought it without Kain.

Must...not...respond...to...Jay...

FF7:

- Jumping from rope to rope when climbing to Shinra HQ. That's just torture.

- The submarine quest/game.

- Emerald Weapon

- HAVING to use Tifa.

- The Lifestream sequence. I wish you could do a fast forward. It's a waste of a day if you've seen it already.

FF2:

- Trying to kill the Cals and Brenas before they can become Calbrena.

CT:

- Getting through the Future the first time. The most boring part in the game.

CC:

- No level diversity :( .

- Trying to summon the Chrono Cross around Lavos's random element casting, which always screws everything up.
