I can't believe it, she was normal last month. Then she caught a virus and couldn't breathe or move much. She recovered mostly and was able to again, until she suddenly got even worse than when she was sick. I'm going to miss her forever, I loved her so very much... She was not only my dearest mother but my best friend, my confidante, my helper. She was such an amazing Christian woman, strong and loyal, funny... This is impossibly difficult.
There's seemingly some malpractice on the part of the hospital too. First of all, she was in the hospital a couple days prior and they released her in a poor state with only an inhaler, and she said they told her that her heart and oxygen levels and stuff was good. She only degraded from there, they never should have made her leave, she should've been watched over.
When the ambulance came they didn't seem to know where to go and got lost going the wrong way as witnessed by my friend waiting outside to flag them down, wasting time. Then, knowing she can't breathe, they wasted more time outside asking if anybody has COVID inside. When he finally saw her after slowly coming in the paramedic said she was only having a panic attack, and he lingered around yelling rudely at her to breathe for like 10 minutes. When he first came in he told his crew "skip vitals" too, which instantly seemed like a red flag but I foolishly trusted his expertise, I should've spoken up because it would've been clear she was having a cardiac event then. He was excessively confident in his assumption, probably driven by the fact he knew her from prior encounters (he mentioned it derisively and with a bad attitude, he clearly disliked her).
Also, their stories contradict facts we witnessed. The doctor said the ambulance allegedly called in the highest priority to rush her (level 3 or whatever) to the hospital but it wasn't true, they stayed parked for a minimum of 10 minutes, we know because we assumed they took her already after we watched them put her in the ambulance and we went back inside. We called 10m later to ask if she arrived already, but not only did she not, the hospital said there was NO report of an incoming ambulance. That was a huge red flag and we looked outside to see them still there. We then actually felt relieved though kind of because apparently it wasn't an emergency if they're STILL there, right? Waltzing in casually, seemingly violating protocols, taking their time getting her to the ambulance, the sitting around forever... Must've not been serious, but how wrong we were.
We call less than an hour later and the doctor coldly says to come in, it was then we realized what happened. He fed us some suspicious claims about her preexisting health too. She was not in the best of health before she got sick, but he claimed she had multiple heart attacks in the past. When pressed he said she probably lied to not make us worry, which is common, but there's no way that was the case because she was telling us she was suspicious of their claim her heart was good (her instincts were obviously correct), so he has to be lying and seemed like he was.
It's been a traumatic few days, but especially today. It's long so I forgive you guys for not reading the whole thing if you didn't... But I wonder, should I call the police or something...? I don't know my options... If anybody has any advice I'd appreciate it, please.
At any rate, I'm glad I had this place to vent back in 2000 when my dad died, it helped, and I'm still glad for it now. VGF is special to me, it's been here throughout most of my life. I appreciate you guys.
Rest in peace, Mom!
I remember posting here the day my dad died in 2000. Today my mother passed away too. (also possible malpractice)

I'm so sorry for your loss, my poor, poor friend. I know there's nothing I can say to ease your heartache. May the Lord bless and keep you.

Sorry for your loss.
To me, you are the teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoon.
